Hey,
I'm a pretty much a runner, but tried a triathlon last summer and had a blast. I'm looking for more fun events to do and am wondering what the general disposition at duathlons is like. I'm basically looking for fun and am not a very serious cyclist. I'm slightly concerned about not being a serious road cyclist and getting in the way. I'm maybe more interested in being able to ride a mountain bike event. Are most events too competitive? Any opinions on how to find suitable events for beginners?

Thanks

Empacher,

I did 4 Sprint Duos last year, and at least here in Southern Ohio, the Duos are lots of fun. There are guys and gals on Mountain Bikes, Huffy's, and even a few Sears Free Spirits!!! Before the start of Duos we've had lots of laughs joking with each other. Of course, when the guns goes off, it's time to race!

The big thing to remember, ride to the right unless you're passing, if in doubt, read the rules before racing.

If you go to http://www.usatriathlon.org/ there is a Duathlon Link, and taking a quick look at the 2005 Duo calendar for your state shows 12 or 13 races this summer. Good Luck!!!

Did a pre-race ride of the major climbs for this weekends International Duo tonight, followed by a 10K run.
