Does anyone have an average time for a 750m swim? Im training for my first sprint tri and the date is looming closer and closer.

what i do is check the results in last years race to see what the times looked like for my age group. what race are you doing? most likely they'll be posted somewhere.

I can do a 750 yard pool swim in about 10:00 but anything under 11:30 or so would put you pretty near the front I think.

Thanks for the quick response. Im doing the Pat Tillman Sprint in Tempe, AZ. My 750 time has been 13 min give or take a second. Thanks for the input :)

Just a thought 750 meters is 820 yards and 880 is half mile.

If you want to get your time down to 10 min for 750 m you have to average 1:20 per 100 m, close to 20 minute mile. If you swim 10 min for 750 yards gives you close 23min and 30 sec mile. You have to train fast to be fast.

Yeah, I know... I used to be faster (not that much, I wasn't very good to begin with), even though I was by no definition a distance freestyler... I think when we did timed 1650s in practice early in a season 2 years ago i got a 20 or 21 something... But no way am I ever swimming 15hrs a week again nor will I peak at 8000 yards/practice again... ugh! Maybe in a few years when I am less burnt out from high school swimming, my shoulders don't hurt at the thought of training more than I need to to semi-maintain, and my other legs improve, I'll swim more than 2x/week max... I swam four times total from last March through December and all were the swim portion of tris I did (just small local ones) and not that people beat me(best 2/50 to my sister, worst 15/200)... Now I finally feel like swimming more than that though... If I want to be faster, I have to train, otherwise my swimming will just continue to get slower... but I think my training time is better spent on running for now.
I'm sure as a pro swimmer, you've seen how high school swimming can burn out a lot of people...
