I have recently began training for a Sprint Triathlon in mid-July. This will be my first one. We will be on a family vacation 5/23-5/30. While I plan to still get some workouts in, I don't know if I will be following the same training schedule that I do at home. Will this affect me negatively?
Thanks!

for a week? not really
just do the same number of days but go easy on the second day if you're doubling up on a sport. for instance, you don't have a bike with you so you run instead: go very easy just to get your body moving. swimming is always a good replacement workout because it beats you up the least.

Can you run? Can you swim for 30 min where you are going? If you can't swim and all you can do is run, just do it. Your whole program won't suffer if you can exercise some everyday at least. If you stop for a whole week, that will only depend on your body. If your body is stessed and for this whole week you only recover you will be better after. If you go to Disney and stay on your feet all day next week you will be worse. But don't make things bad with the family. If your plans are going to start at 8 get up early and jog for 45min. This way nobody suffers. And also don't do anything that will make you tired all day, because you have to enjoy the vacation. This week is only slow work.

I go to the shore for a week each July. I don't even think about cycling because the roads are just to busy. I run each morning, I swim around with my kids, and walk quite a few miles each day on the boardwalk. Training is not a priority, family is. The week leading up to vacation is always a max volume week. I will be shooting for 20 hours this year. The week after vacation will be the same thing. Tweak your training plan to fit your life, instead of messing with your life to fit your plan.

Best way to see a new city or explore a old one is going for a nice 5mile run or bike. Take advantage of what will probally be great weather but also remember you will not lose fitness in a week

Try not to over-eat, stay on a similar sleep schedule, and try to run every other day. That should get you through. You won't lose your coniditioning in a week of run-only (unless you pig out and miss seven consecutive days and mysteriously take up smoking).

Thanks for all the responses. The resort we are going to only has one pool that winds all the way around the resort. I will make the best of it, plus I may try to swim in the ocean as well. I will definitely run and hopefully, they will have a bike in the gym. Thanks again!

When travelling I tend to focus on runs and swims, since bikes are so hard. Run every other day and then just put the swims in between the run days. I also focus on going as early as possible in the morning as to not get in the rest of the group/families schedule/way.

I wroteup a thing about training while training a while back that you mind find useful:
