I'm working on this myself, and am hopeful to come out of Hy Vee with a top 3 place. From my research, you need to hit around 1:57 for an olympic to have a shot (under normal conditions).

Look who's back! And those criteria are legit (ie., if you meet it, you are 'elite')! For most qualifying standards, you not only have to qualify first to get to the race, you THEN you have to finish "top-10 overall and within 8% of the winner's time." Good luck.

Hey, guys. Just glad to be running on solid ground again instead of a treadmill on a ship. It's hot over there...Allah must be pissed!

Not to threadjack, but I cant find the dang PM button anymore. Whats up Matt?! How long before you go back? Racing at all?
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
I'm mostly in port for the rest of the year. I'm going to try to do a couple ITU races if I can. I'll be going to Memphis in May again this year. I almost signed up for St. Anthony's last minute, but decided against it. It worked out, though....I didn't want to swim in that mess, anyway! I had my LT done instead and I lost 30W...I would've been passed by girls. I went and watched, though. It was my first time spectating. :)

FYI: at the top left of the page there is the hello and where there are links for "my profile", "message", "invite" and "logout". Click messages, type in the name, and send a PM ;) I miss the button though - it was nice not to have to cut and paste names in, and to be able to send someone a message from their profile.
And welcome back Matt! We missed you :)

I don't know too many women pushing 330W.

I doubt it'll get the same sort of response, but if the water temp at my race increases a couple degrees above the "Wetsuit Mandatory" temp (currently 58 F) I'll try to post some pics of my new custom splish suit. I hope everyone will be able to get past the Chicago winter tan and remember I've just emerged from frigid waters...

I wish. I was pushing 280 a week ago. It'll come back up fast, but for now I'm looking at a nice DFL for Memphis at 3.6 W/kg. LOL! At least the BBQ will be good!
Oh, and good luck with the Speedo race.

Gonna show up at any of the crystal river races? I might do the Twilight- its such a fun race. We'll see where I am at. Hopefully I have my speed back by then. I dont know what the rest of my schedule is, I had throw my plan out the window and am starting over. Stupid work injury.

Probably not. Now that I live in Jax, I'll do their local races. I'll probably do a lot of my racing out-of-state, though, now that St. A's is over.

I just got back from deployment a few days before, so I was in no shape to race. I just went and watched.

I see this term all around the triathlon world and i know that it basically means professional. What i want to know is how do people become "elite"? I'm hoping to claim an elite card soon enough from USAT.Do i need to win money at a race or can i just get a few overall wins and claim elite status?
