long story short, riding my tri bike on the streets where I live, in the bike lane, cruising along at 24mph, lady was in the wrong lane and turned to go into a shopping complex cutting me off, by the time she noticed me she slammed on her breaks and stopped in the bike lane, I then slammed on my breaks and flew over my handle bars landing on my shoulder and back. Cracked my helmet in 3 different places (saved me basically). I have a fractured clavicle and partially separated shoulder. Since I'm active and very healthy should take 4 to 6 weeks recovery, possibly 8. My bike is banged up some, don't know how much, taking it to the bike shop today to have them take a look. I had a race on May 17th, guess that's not happening and one on June 28th. Hopefully will be recovered for that.

Glad you lived. Just for curiosity, what happened to the driver (ie, Who was at fault? Anyone ticketed? Insurance claims?) My guess is nothing happened to her.

That would turn a very painful experience into something even worse. Hopefully her insurance will take care of the bike and medical bills.

Hope you heal up quick - I was lucky and avoided breaking anything - just healing up the cuts and abrasions now.
Glad you are okay (relatively).

Don't you just love when people notice something and rather than thinking quickly they stop/panic and end up doing more harm. Good luck healing and hopefully you get a little help from the offending party.

Sorry about the crash, the clavicle and should injuries sucks, cause there is not much you can do while you wait for that to heal. Good luck and dont rush back!

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I called the lady and haven't heard back. Hasn't been long though. She knew it was her fault so we will see what happens. I didn't call the police because my adrenaline was 150% and i didn't feel anything at the time, just thought it was bike problems. I just hope I don't get screwed with all the repairs, broken helmet, broken phone. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for the well wishes!!

just an update for those interested:
I called the lady yesterday and she called back (worried she wouldn't) and said that she would contact her insurance company so we will see what happens, hopefully she does. she seems sincere but who can you trust these days? Took in the bike for a safety check and to see what needs to be replaced, i should get a call about that today and i can see what the damages are... im doing ok i guess, better than monday. swelling has gone down a lot. i have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow for a second opinion so we will see what he says.
