Tire life
PJT posted 30 weeks ago.
Under normal usage, I ride my tires (Michelin Pro Race 2 and 3) for about 2000 miles. Repeated punctures or riding on a trainer can shorten that lifespan.
In general, you want a tire to be as free as possible from nicks and cuts and to maintain a round profile. When you see a tire "squaring off" in the middle, that's a great sign that it is time for new ones.

I was wondering what people's experience is with race tires and their longevity? I have Bontrager X-lites on my tri bike and recently found a small gouge and, iincidentally, the sound of rushing air from my tube on a training ride last night. Well, that started me thinking about how many miles and crap I had run over with these tires and when I would have to replace them.
Any experience would be great as I have not owned race tires until last year.
Thanks in advance!
