Pedals on a plane

So I shipped my bike tribiketransport and now have my pedals. I don't want to check a bag a) because I'm impatient, and b) in case of possible loss. So my question is, has anyone ever carried on a set of pedals?

I don't see why not.
Hell, you could probably even walk through security wearing your helmet if you wanted. (just randomly yell out "TIMMY!" and no one will bother you"

Pedals are probably fine, just not the pedal wrench. If you want to make them even more inconspicuous, snap them into the cleats on the shoes and carry-on the shoes too.

I like the attaching them to the shoes idea. I can see some TSA agent deciding the pedals are no good because they could be used in a dangerous manner, but having shoes attached makes their use more obvious. Just be ready to check them in a bag if it comes down to it!

good idea about clipping the pedals to the shoes! Tell'em they're your spin class shoes.

I also think that it could totally depend on the kind of pedals you have. Some look really inconspicuous, but others...oh man, I wouldn't want to run into them in a dark alley.

I had a tunneler in my bag when going through security. I totally forgot it was in there, so I just tried to play it cool:

"What is this?"
"It's a tunneler. It's used to tunnel through tissue."
"Cool."

And I was on the flight, ready to operate. Ha!

I carried on in June, inside my bike shoes. no problems.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I didnt carry shoes, but I carried on my "The Stick" once. If you can carry on a 2ft long stick with handles, you can carry pedals I bet. They did have to get supervisor approval however.

If Samuel Jackson's on the flight, I'd be concerned about them

Don't be so easy on yourself 'cause this one might be all that you have left
