Make sure you use clean socks everytime you put them on
I remember my college days & laundry wasnt always done on time so I would throw on the least smelly ones from the pile
DONT DO THAT - clean socks every time will definately help the smell
also try stuffing a couple dryer sheets or fabric softener sheets (or whatever you call them - bounce sheets) into your shoes when you are not wearing them

Three things I still do, (with running shoes / foot maintenance) that I learned while maintaining / rotating 2 pairs of combat boots when in the military:
1. Baby powder on the feet (before long rucksack march or a long run). Alternatively,
sometimes we would spray anti-perspirant / deordorant on the bottom of our clean bare feet.
Controls sweat, moisture buildup, friction and therefore blisters, as well as odor.
The second and most imprtant part of this procedure was wearing the paper-thin, very slick
polypropylene or (nylon) socks under the standard cotton or wool socks to
eliminate friction, and also to help wick moisture away from the feet.
2. Rotation of combat boots (and now running shoes). Maintain 2 pairs, your newest pair,
and your second slightly more worn pair. Remove insoles and allow each one to "air-out"
a complete day before they are worn again.
3. Lastly, the old scented "Bounce" sheet was placed in the boots (running shoes) nightly.
Leave them out in the hall :)

My running shoes smell really really bad. Does anybody have any tricks so that they don't drive me crazy in my little dorm room?
