So with this race right around the corner, what is everyone doing last minute to prepare? I have missed like 50% or more of my workouts these past 2 weeks (been super busy). I hope I haven't lost my VO2 max! Its going to be a tough 4 weeks until race time for me! Is anyone getting a hotel down there night before the race? Would anyone be down for a trifuel pre race dinner?

Mike will be racing, and I will be cheering. We've also been crazy busy lately, so I'm glad I'm not racing :)

I'm not sure if we are hotelling or what. I have a feeling for dinner and such before it we'll be with a group of friends from the area.

I will be racing, or rather, chugging along. Between my half my "winter weight" still being around my belly and having a patchy training schedule, I'm a little nervous about it. I'm confident I will finish but I'm not sure how I'll feel at the start of the run.

Hi guys, good luck with your Ironman 70.3!!
I'm thinking about going there and watch the race and maybe take some pictures.
but I know I can't really be at the goal line...
I check the race course, and It's not like I can walk and go to one spot to other.
just curious where you guys usually go and cheer or take some pictures?
(I'm just thinking about driving there early in a morning and watch the race and go home after)

I wonder what the parking situation is. I'm driving down on Fri afternoon to register. I'm planning on settling down somewhere in Oceanside to sleep inside my camper van to save some $.

The run course would be the best place, anywhere along the beach boardwalk thing. It is an out and back run course with two loops so you will see someone 4 times before they finish.

There is a great corner for spectators. It is where the bikes go out and come in and near the run turnaround so you see people there a bunch as well. One of the nice things with a 70.3 with so many waves is that there are people to cheer for pretty much all day :) It won't be hard to find once you are there.

I also often walk a bit of the course, just because I don't sit still too well. I have walked up to the base entrance for the bikes, and through part of the run course, and just watching and cheering. That is fun too, especially if you aren't timing it to see any particular people and don't have to try to be in certain places at certain times.

I could be wrong, but I thought that most of the parking in Oceanside forbids overnight. You might want to look on some of the beach websites and see if any have info on that.

Well hope you figured out what was meant with the course changes ;) The road has been redone in the last year, so the good intersection moved a bit down the road. But it was still a fun day out there. Hope you had fun!

I woke up at 2:30AM and left the house at 3. I got there at 4AM and it was cold.
but weather got better by the time the race started.
The race was awesome!!! I enjoyed every minutes of it!
I got to see some pro triathletes and all kinds of tri athletes... by just watching those people racing,
I was moved, I'm not kidding. It was like watching "feel-food" movie.

I had few friends raced there, so I was there to cheer them on and I also took some pictures.
(actually 1000+)

I took bunch of tri-athletes, and I you might be able to find yourself, or your loved ones, or friends.
so go check my flickr page! Warning! there are 946 pictures!
