I am doing my first HIM in June. I am wondering if it would be a bad idea to do either and Oly or Sprint 2 weeks before, as a C race?

I am 31 and this is my 3rd year of Tri.

That would be more like a B race, as it would occur during a taper or peak. A C race is one that has no taper, peak, or change in training plans.

I think it's a great strategy to follow, and find I do better when stacking races to take advantage of my Peak.

Meh, skip it. If you look at the 70.3 training plan linked from TriFuel as an example, the weekend of the proposed race(s) calls for a 3hr bike/15 run Saturday, then a 40:00 swim and 1:30 run on Sunday. The point being that the Oly (and especially the Sprint) do not give you anywhere near those distances. If you want to do the Oly/Sprint, find a race whose distances most closely match the distances in your training plan (ie, week 2 of the plan calls for a 90:00 min bike and 50:00 run, which is pretty close to a 40k bike, 10k run of the Oly.) Those races should be done in the beginning of the training plan, not in the end, if at all.

THANKS EVERYONE!

One question, what if I did the OLY plus training on top? For instance, during week 13, I am doing a bike race that is 39 miles and then after the race I will just get back on my bike for the remaining time needed to meet my plans.

That works as long as you don' go at a pace that blows your training up for the rest of the week because you need to recover.

I've seen it done a lot. People riding their bikes home after a race. It would be nice to have someone at the race to take your transition bag home for you and keep a couple bottle of fluid. Just keep the pace reasonable.
