I got a wild hair to get back on my mtn bike and took it out for the first time since 2005, only to find the inner chainring has two teeth that are folded. You'd think I'd remember doing something like that. Since my bike is 10 years old, I haven't found a replacement ring (Cannondale Coda). So I get to replace cranks and BB. Any recommendations on aftermarket cranks?

I am not a Shimano fan. But their cranks ARE the best, IMO. Get a set of XTs and you'll want for nothing. That said, I currently have a Truvativ Stylo Team crank on my MTB and have no complaints.

Truvativ here also - holding up well. I'm a fan of SRAM components.

If I was you I'd just take the chainring off and pound it flat with a hammer. Heat it up in the oven -- maybe 250 deg. first before doing it. If that doesn't work, just make sure you score a set of cranks that works with your bottom bracket (and make sure the inner/outer rings of the new set have the same number of teeth or you're going to also need to add/remove links from the chain.

With a 10 year old bike you may want to consider upgrading the entire bike, as you could easily spend a few hundred dollars on this upgrade alone.

Greatness is only achieved by those who perpetually raise the expectations of themselves to the point where it ruins their life.

Actually, since Nobody points it out, Greenfish has a sale going on build kits:

Some pretty solid deals on there.

I bent some teeth pretty badly last fall and a friend with a vice grip fixed it right up for me. He put the bent part in the vice grip (so only a little is being grabbed) and then held the whole chainring and bent it back. Took a few tries to get it perfect but I can't even see the spot anymore.

Probably a good fix - I did something similar with a derailleur hanger and it works just fine.
