I'm planning on doing it next Fall; if anyone has any insights as to whether or not it's a well run race, etc. let me know! Happy training.

Happy Training!

Yes i have done it 4 times ... its one of the best locations to complete a triathlon. the race management is premier. the course is well planned out. i have done maybe 30 races in clermont. Superb.

this was my first 1/2 iron-distance race. the swim is funky in red/brown lake water...with little visability. i was challenged by the hilly terrain on the bike and run, but it was a beatuiful race site. it is also very well supported and organized. i just completed gulf coast 1/2 iron and it doesn't compare. i hope to go back to clermont in october!

Sweet! Thanks for the reply-- um, as for the red/brown water, is that just organic material in the lake or is it something to be worried about??
Maybe I'll see you in October!
thanks again, good luck training.

there was a HUGE sewage leak in clermont ( lake mineola) about 3-4 years ago , nothing to worry about now.

Florida 1/2 is a great race! Well staffed and plenty of volunteers, however it is and extremely challenging race. Make sure that you have your climbing legs on the bike and run.

Fred Sommer and the gang in Clermont are fantastic. Have raced there in different distances ( inc the Fla. Challenge 4 times ) over a dozen times. I plan to do the Great Floridian Ironman there as my first in 06, maybe 07.

Good luck.
