I'm on the 11th week of training for my A race in May. I couldn't help registering for the first race of the season: a sprint triathlon next Saturday. My weekly load is 12-13 hours a week. Should I do some tapering or should I jump into it instead of my Saturday long run? I should actually finish in less time than the long run...lol

I don't see the need as your total race time will be less than a likely Saturday training session.
Have fun!

c races = fun. That is a definition of a c race. No need to taper.

No need to taper. But, you will be missing a long run and your race is only a sprint...so get out for your long run in the afternoon!

I have no helpful input on tapering, but I just had to say that I'm totally jealous you have races to taper for already!

And if you want to be That Guy, when you finish, go back out for more running, but be sure to go back out on the course running against traffic, wearing your bib, and going really slowly to make sure everyone sees that you are finished but on your recovery run. And for added effect, be sure to tell everyone still on the course that they look great! :)

I always have the urge to push THAT GUY down and strangle him....usually just a passing thought though

That happened at my first race. At first I thought he was a volunteer, then I realized he was just a douche bag.

But yah, be that guy, everyone loves that guy.

Do both the long run and the race.

Do the sprint and then when you get home don't change and do your long run.

I've made up my mind: I will not taper, but I will do my long run on Sunday, instead of my long ride.

To be "that guy" I would have to finish in the first group so that everyone can see that I am on my recovery run, while they are not yet finished. Sadly, it won't happen this time. At least I can blame it on the lack of tapering.
