does it seem weird
We used to...In the dim dark ages of Trifuel have a count of how many people belonged. It would be cool to know how many strong we are.
There are probably tons of folks who see us as and information site and not a place to chat/post. Others lurk but don't have time to be involved. Some others are busy training and don't have time for this tomfoolery! Others, still, are afraid to post, which is silly because of all the sites I am familiar with, this to me is the most accepting and flame resistant of the lot.
I'm a member of other sites but only post here. I decided this was my online "home." I post here because I feel a connection to the place.

I don't have much to say...but love to read the advice!

Oh...and some don't have much to say!

I also don't have too much to say. I try to help out people when I can but I only really know the basics so I leave the more advanced questions to the more knowledgeable people here. I am also a member of slowtwitch but I am not nearly as comfortable posting there. Trifuel is much more welcoming.

I too am a member or a lurker on many sites but as Anton stated, this site is the most welcoming.
I probably contribute TOO regularly because i have trifuel running in the backgroud all day while I am at work. I work on a PC all day so it is easy to pop in and check out what is going on.
Someday I can't post much but I read everything.
There is a good range of contributors to trifuel and a they are on many skill levels.
I have met several trifuelers and I now count them as my friends.

This is a great place. I have appreciated being welcome....haven't even done a tri yet but am hopeful this year. Actually getting the nerve to register for a sprint in June. I try to post when I feel I can add something to the conversation. :)
I truly appreciate the wealth of knowledge here.
Just keep spinning....spinning, spinning....uh, do I know you?

I mostly just let other people do the talking and post pictures of dudes in speedos at inappropriate times.

Not fast enough.
Very nice. High Five.
I didn't contribute much in my first year. I just tried to learn everything I could. Now it is part of my daily routine. I have learned much more here than I did from any tri book. Plus there are great people on Trifuel.

We're all too busy training or eating or sleeping! ;) I too am more of a lurker. I'll try to be better though!
I too am mostly a lurker, I have yet to feel that I have much to contribute...although I occasionally ask questions.
But I do agree that this place is friendly and more welcoming than most.
EDIT: odd i am listed as only having 1 post...I don't post much but more than that...?
Well I am a blabber mouth. At one point my posts exceeded my days of membership. Then came a couple of long business trips and the christmas season. Hopefully now I can get to rolling again.
I don't know much but I do have a lot of questions? And also manage to do stupid things a lot.
I'm a new guy to the site but enjoy reading advice and posts often. I am mostly a lurker but will try to post and chime in when I can. Trifuel is a very welcoming site and not as intimidating as some other sites. Thanks guys. Keep the posts coming and I'll keep lurking...and occasionally adding my 2 cents.
+1 read a lot and post very little. However, I do appreciate the friendly and informative environment. Thanks all.
I love coming here and visiting with people who "get" me and my obsession.

I don't know any other triathletes and I am not on a team, nor do I have a coach, so this is the only community I have to talk about this stuff. I looked at other forums but they felt cold by comparison. Plus, I like the cast of characters over here.

I have learned a lot from this site & try to give back when I can. Sometimes life gets in the way...
+1 to all the postings above, I don't post a lot - just when I feel I have something to add that might not otherwise have been mentioned (assuming I have the time too).
In that vein, I've been to a lot of other forums, and I find from a technical format and user friendliness that trifuel is one of the the most easily customizable, personal, navigable sites I've been on. So, not to take away from the people (and I too feel a connection or home for sharing my triathlon experiences here), I think that the easy format has helped make trifuel "my home" when it comes to sharing information about triathlons.
How about aero helmets?
I think it's because the most active members are on the site the most. The few times that I know an answer to someones question there's no need to post. By the time I see it 15 people have answered already!
Seriously, shouldn't everyone be working or training??!? :D
I would post more if Matt posted more pics of himself in a speedo rather than Borat! I love this forum - it's friendly and informative and seems to have a wicked good sense of humour! I agree that for me the forum replaces a team and even sometimes training partners as I live in a really "triathlon remote" area. I think we do train, it's at work where we slack off!!

ya, I'm pretty sure there would be lots more female posters if Matt were to post more speedo pics of himself. I need to go back and look at that thread...I can't wait till summer!

I'm a lurker too. I really can't post as much as some of you do. I only do it when I have a question or have something new to say. Unlike others, the Trifuel community is like a group of friends who welcome you every time and give you advice on triathlon and about life too. It also has an easier and nicer format than others.
Being on trifuel while at work keeps me sane, and I love soaking up all the info. ;-)
'Nothing to it, but to do it!'
Its really rare that I post.... but have been on almost everyday since I first signed on.....It is by far the best community out there...
The members search tab shows 960 members listed.
If everybbody reading this sent out one invite THIS WEEK we would have a thousand by the w/e.
I sent mine out to a local tri-coach Brian Travelbea.

I'm in a similar situation as Toni, I only personally know a couple other triathletes and I don't have a coach or belong to a team/club...just don't really have the time or funds. I keep this running while I'm working on other things, so I read basically everything.
I'm proud of my "more posts than days as member" status, but it certainly isn't b/c I'm an expert. I post tons of questions, and other times when I do put forth my .02, I try and make sure it's known that my advice is from personal experience and reading I've done. I figure this place is so generally flame-free, that posting mis-information is a good way to learn things you don't understand correctly or are doing wrong since someone will let you know your error without tearing you down.
I also am a member, or at least lurk, at the other sites, but keep basically all my activity here. It's a much more "family" atmosphere. I figure I'll do my recruiting with my Trifuel hat I'll be wearing at all my races this year.
I guess I'm more proud of my "days as a member" than number of posts... I guess life has kind of gotten in the way of my tri training and time on trifuel lately (I'll be more "back" after I graduate), but I'm still here after 4.5 years...
Yes, I'll admit that, for the longest time (since 2005), I just looked, read and learned. Because I'm not one of those people who want to annoy others with my 2 cents and mostly kept to myself. Now I have bit more experienced, trust and knowledge that trifuel is a good resource for info and support.
I've often found that I'm not quick enough on the draw. By the time I'm going to post a reply, someone's already made the point I would have made. Just like Jetskr said above...
Is it just my imagination, or does it seem like a a wider variety of people are posting since this thread went up?
That which does not kill me makes me faster...
I am alone in my training. My first tri is in June, I'm over the moon with excitement already.
Trifuel has helped me alot since I've not found any really usefull UK sites. People are friendly and their advise is genuine. It has helped me alot since I embarked on my tri adventure a couple of months ago.
Thanks guys :)

that for all the thousands of triathlete fanatics out there who probably have all kinds of interest in learning more about the sport, there only seem to be a few regular posters here - and I don't think there are better tri forums out there.
