Nose running?
Nope...normal. No allergies here and my nose runs like a waterfall when it's cold. Just you're little ol' goblet cells producing mucous to protect the lining of your sinuses from the cold.

Yea i understand about the cold weather but it still happens in summer months!?
Okay looked it up its called Vasomotor Rhinitis! Treatment Ipratropium bromide(Atrovent). I guess i can get my boss the DVM to write me a prescription lol!
i also have this less than glamorous issue. all the time, warm or cold. can you get powdered bute for your cereal too?
Don't be so easy on yourself 'cause this one might be all that you have left
Never heard of the powdered bute but we have some expired paste in the pharmacy i saw it the other day! Just kidding about the RX we are all about being legal where i work! Except when i need to xray myself uhh thats different!lol;)
my nose runs too, summer or winter, when i'm exercising
although i don't remember it being that way several years ago
Ok...just plowed through my Anatomy and Physiology books (Jenkins Chemnitz,Tartora 2007)
This occurs anytime air flows at a higher than normal exchange rate. The increased flow of air stimulates the goblet cells as does the increased intake of dust and other microscopic matter. Goblet cells excrete mucous that catches foreign matter/microbes. A physical barrier to keep out and help you eject, all the nasty stuff you breath.
One way, I learned at ultras, to tell if someone is really dehydrated...they stop producing mucous.

thanks Anton.
my horse has a scrip for the powder, apple flavored, smells like sour apple bubble gum. discounted xrays are a nice job benefit. i should have gone to vet school.

I just dont understand why are noses run soooo much and all the people i train or race with dont seem to have this problem! I found a product that i hear is supposed to help and can be used everyday 3-4 times a day along with claritin or any other allergy tab. Its called NasalCrom i got it @ my favorite store Target yesterday $13 bucks but i think it will help!Woot!
let us know if it works.

I prefer snot rockets to chemicals in my body. Why take something you really don't need just so your nose doesn't run? If you had rampant allergies and it drained all the time, fine but to take them so your body can't do what it's supposed to do ie. protect you...I don't know.

Okay Anton you win!lol I will leave it alone and go w/out drugs! Just got back from a 30miler bike ride and i was snot rocketing it the whole way! I actually am getting pretty skilled @ this i used to hit my clothes and or bike no longer!Woot! Thanks for your advice Anton!:)
it happens to alot of people (me especially, so over time i've perfected the snot rocket). I dont really know any techniques to prevent it (sorry), but at least you know that your not alone.

Some days it is worse than others but most of the times I run or bike I get a little runny and snot rockets are the way to go for me.
Not only do I want to skip the extra chemicals in my body it costs $$ for the OTC Meds.

Does everybody else have this problem or do i have allergies? My nose especially when its cold really runs alot! I have to do the graceful snot rocket or country blow the whole time i run! Its really a painidass especially when racing!I have tried claratin but dont like the way it makes me feel. I still have this problem but not as bad in warm weather.By the way its supposed to be 70 degrees here in South Carolina today!Yipee!:)
