Over on the Running Forum you'll find other stuff about Ultras...books, ultras vs. triathlon that sort of thing.

What Anton said :) He's the resident ultra-authority.
Some specific things I had luck with: two long runs a week, and a great running group for the weekend long run and the tired legs mid-distance run the next day.

Anton talked me into doing an ultra and it was a great time.
I used the sites Anton recommended for info and training ideas.
It involved a lot of running and a lot of running long back to back.
Long runs on Saturday and long runs on Sunday.
Get the 1/2 marathon under you belt then work your way up to marathons and then beyond.
'Nothing to it, but to do it!'

So for those of you who have trained for and done one of these, how do you go about it? I mean you can't just go out and run 50 or 100 miles on a weekly basis I'd assume. Not that I'm planning on signing up for one this year, as I have yet to even attempt a half marathon....but I found one near and it got me thinking.
