Old Running Shoes
I'm a big guy (190-205lbs for most of my running career) and I've run some pairs of trainers well past 500 miles with all road miles. Not saying I'd recommend it, though. That was mostly when I was in HS and doing XC and didn't know any better.
However, I'd continue to train in them myself, but I'd be constantly monitoring my legs for signs of pain from the shoes breaking down. At the first sign of an issue, I'd stop for sure...oh yeah, and I'd do as much as I could stand on the treadmill as well to prolong them until I can get a new pair.
How long will you be unable to get new shoes? If it's a while see about having them shipped to you from someone in the states
That is the problem, I can not currently recieve anything mail. It should only be a couple more weeks and I should be home.
It depends on your weekly milage! If your just putting in 20-30 miles a week go for it until you can get home.:)
If you are feeling pain in your knees or shins or even if you are feeling extra stress in your knees hang it up for the next few weeks and find another way to workout. If this is not the case, then run but avoid going hard on the downhills. Some shoes can occasionally last beyond 500 miles, but in my experience most lose their cushioning and impact absorbtion well before 500.

Can you get near an elliptical machine? I'd recommend that if you could....
Just keep spinning....spinning, spinning....uh, do I know you?

So I am currently over seas and not able to get new shoes. The shoes I am currently running on have well over the recommended 500 miles on them...and it is a rough 500 miles through endless dirt and rock trails. So the question is, do I continue to run outside on these puppies or do I stick to the boring treadmill? Or, my biggest fear yet, stay off of them? Thanks in advance!!!
