My wife and I are looking to sign up for an Ironman in 2009. Obviously most are already closed, but IM France is still open. Anyone know what the entry limit is? We can't find it anywhere...

I couldn't find it either, but it tends to be a nebulous number anyway...
However...I looked at the results from last year...there were 2,269 finishers. Considering a 5 to 8% DNF rate at most IM's, thats close to 2,500...

I know I've said "There's no such thing as an 'easy' Ironman," but I suspect that France stays open for awhile b/c it is wicked hard. Apparently the bike is a monster. And if you look at the IMs which stay open more than a few hours, they are either in remote locations (hard to get to for North Americans and Euros, such as Malaysia), the course is (suposedly) more difficult (eg, France), or both (IM Lanzarote).

Well I ASSUME the bike and run are HILLY ...if you have ever been to Nice and the surrounding area you know it is very hilly. That and an ocean swim, would make it difficult. Not that any are easy as TriSooner has said.
I still may try it for my next one however.
