Would this be considered a good deal???
anyone??? thanks
I'm not familiar with Raliegh, but if you're getting all the extras thrown in as well and it's in good condition then it seems like a good deal. Provided, of course, that the bike fits you. If the bike doesn't fit you, then no price is worth it. If you can, try to get a fitting at a bike shop, or take the bike with you to a shop and make sure that it'll work for you.
thanks Tribro.... I'll try and take it to a shop within the next week or two.. It should be warming up a bit, so hopefully I'll actually get to ride it out on the road as well.
Sounds like a good deal.
If you can get it to a shop see if the shop will pull the bottom bracket. If there is any rust on the interior of the frame, this is a likely place for it to appear. If that's too much to get done, just pull the seatpost and check the post and frame for rust. If you see rust on the frame you may want to reconsider.
Of course, by the sound of it the parts alone, especially if they are carbon wheels, may be worth the price.
even if the bike doesnt fit you - I would still take that deal
then you could re-sell on on Ebay for twice the amount you paid & have a good chunk to put into a bike that does fit - or even sell it off piece by piece, although it would be some work - you would learn a lot about the bike parts & how they work & I guarentee - the parts you mentioned selling them piece by piece would bring in well over $500
or you could yank the components & sell that frame on ebay - then get yourself a frame that will accomadate you & you already have top notch components to toss on your new frame !!

thanks for your replies.. I was thinking about just switching the frame as well.. I guess I will try to price it all out too once i get back. I'm on spring break right now and I get back home sunday night and I'm going to check the bike out and maybe take it to a bike shop on Monday or Tuesday.. Ill update and let you know whats happening.. Thanks again for the input!
livestrong, i have a nice bike for sale, how tall are you ?
your first bike should be a roadie bike not a tri bike .... my Local Bike shop sells raleighs, there high end stuff is nice. Although I have a giant TCR ELITE 1 For sale check it out on the classifieds, i can also send you pics.

Hi, I am pretty new to tri, and I am looking to get a bike for this new season.. I used my friends bike for a race last Sep., but he's moving, and I need to get a bike of my own.. I have an offer for a whole bike setup for tri racing, and I dont know if this is a good deal or not.. I'll try and describe it the best off the top of my head that i can..
Its a Raleigh, approx. 3-4 years old, but in great shape
Full Carbon Fork
New Tires and Wheels.. Wheels are pretty decent - carbon fiber I think
Aluminum steer
Full Ultegra Setup
Bike computer with pedal RPM and the whole deal
Aero Bars
Pedals and Shoes (pedals are those really tiny round ones.. not sure what the proper term is)
The guy wants $500 for this.. I havent had the chance to ride the bike yet, but when I do, and it fits and rides well for me, should I take the offer?? Or should I go for something new.. Like I said, this would be an entry level bike for me.. I am still new at this..
Thanks
