Lone Star Half- Any suggestions
The event is very spectator friendly, being at Moody Gardens, there's other stuff for her to do when you're not closeby. I did the quarter distance last year, and am signed up for the 1/2 this year. The crosswind was pretty bad if I recall correctly, I needed to really focus on staying upright, but other than that, a really fun, well planned event

If anything this is a good race to do this year just to help out the local economy. I just read an article that was talking about Galveston not recovering from Hurricane Ike as quickly as everyone had hoped.
I have never done this race but was giving some serous thought to doing the quarter distance as an early season gauge of how my training is doing.
I vote for TriSooner to come down to Galveston to do the 1/2 :)

Forgot to ask about the swim. Wetsuit, right? Jellyfish? Waves? Course?
thanks again,
it was wetsuit legal last year, no jellyfish- but downright chilly for galveston
the couse maps are on the website. I think it's a rectagular or triangular swim. It is in the bay, but for some reason the tiny waves made me a little nauseous. Hopefully I won't feel like that this year

Thanks for all the good advice on this event. It looks pretty good
Appreciate the help.

This event looks about right. But, I would be concerned about the wind on the bike course since it seems to follow the beach. Anyone done this last year who might have some advice about this event ? I am 65 years old and only want to make the distance on this, not trying for any geriatric speed records or anything. My room reservations are in Moody Gardens so.
My wife wants to come watch the carnage so of course I would like to know how spectator friendly you found the event.
Thanks, in advice
