flu recovery rant
that sucks, just hope that you'll get better soon and back to training. Just make sure not to rush back into training too soon because if your body isnt ready for it some negative effects could begin to occur...Good luck and feel better!

Yup it sucks...but I doubt you'll lose much base even after two weeks. Don't run if it saps you right now...get in an easy spin on the trainer or go for a walk. Your body not operating as you're used to isn't about lost fitness...it's about still being sick. A severe illness like the flu can ravage the body and can lead to, in extreme cases, death. It takes time to shake it. Take your time...drink fluids like there's no tomorrow (my doctor recommends Gatorade or Pedialyte) and ease back into it. Nothing worse than a relapse.
My wife and I are just getting over NASTY colds with one week till Disney...lost time is just that... gone. You can't make it up.

I'm sorry. I had pneumonia in July (who gets pneumonia in July?) and it really kicked my butt.
What Anton said, take it slow and easy.
Feel better.
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...

I rarely get sick (maybe once every 1.5-2 yrs) but when I do, it's like world war 3. This past xmas, I was laid up for 3 days of intense discomfort, fever, chills, and body ache. It took me two weeks to recover to the point of feeling well enough to return to the gym.
I tried running on the treadmill today and I couldn't finish my 30 minute run. I had to slow it down to 5mph after 25 minutes and quit another 10 minutes later.
Being sick really sucks. I feel like my entire base has been destroyed. I'm sure it'll eventually come back when I'm back to normal but nothing makes you feel more vulnerable as when your fitness level disappears so fast and your body fails to operate according to your wishes.
