cramps - hand
Are you holding your fingers in a cup and tightly together? Are you pressing your thumb against your index finger? This may be your problem.

Ya, I do keep my hand slightly cupped and fingers tight. I thought that was required for when driving the hand through the smallest hole in the water.
So should the hand be relaxed? Fingers slightly spread? Through the entire stroke or after the catch???

If you look at Swim tips on my website swimdownhill.com there are some good tips about how the hand should be while swimming. I have only had hand cramps when I swam in water over five hours with a temperature under 50 degrees F.

Thanks GeoChuck - I looked through the swim tips on the site listed.
Have a swim session tonight , so I'll give'em a try.

Does this happen to anyone else?
When I swim longer distances 2000+ yards I start to get some cramps in my right hand.
I can usually relieve it by making a fist for a bit while I turn.
Was wondering if it has to do with my form on the catch or am I just keeping the hand too tense throughout the stroke???
Thanks
