Does anyone know of any tri specific PDA software for logging workouts, splits, nutrition, and gps coordinates for windows mobile?

I've been looking for a few weeks now, and have seen some sports training software but nothing that makes me want to plunk down some cash.

Looking for something that will allow logging the exercise type, calorie intake, calories burned, training time, training calendar, and distance logging.

What would sell the deal would be to use my phones gps to log the distance?

Any ideas? Am I asking too much?

Any WM Developers looking for a coding challenge or venture opportunity?

Im assuming if you have a phone as such, it has access to the internet. Just hop on IE or Blackberry's equiv and use training peaks or something. This is just a guess, as I have not put anytime looking into it, but it seems like it would work.

I've actually been using the trifuel training log to document my training. However, running workouts are either a guess on the distance or you're stuck running a set/semi-set route. I'd hate to think that I'd have to get a new HR monitor with either a foot pod or some bulky gps receiver to carry.

My phone already handles music, emergency phone, timer, and maps. You'd think it wouldn't be too hard to access the gps chip to calculate simple data and distance. I'm sure it wouldn't even be all that out of question to add a heartrate strap using bluetooth to transmit the signal. (I'd have to say this is just speculation, as I dont' know the throughput of ant technology.) Plus if you have duration and intensity (heartrate/speed) you can almost calculate calories burned.

It just seems to me that with the popularity of smartphone/iphone type devices that the sports training industry is a bit behind the curve.

I use excel to track most of the items you are asking about and you can use a Windows Mobile PDA for that. The only thing that doesn't really work with is the GPS coordinates unless you can find someway to communicate between excel and GoodleEarth (probably exists, but I've never looked for it). For my running distances, I just use the distance calculators at USATF.org or mapmytri.com to calculate my running distance. The downside, no splits within the run, but beggars can't be choosers.

I bought a Garmin Forerunner 101. It's pretty darn accurate, has training partners, altitude, maps, etc. Not as cool as the 201 which will link up with your computer and tell you what your pace was throughout the entire run (like you slowed down going up that huge hill). I just need the basics that the 101 provides, but the 201 definitely has better features.

Sorry, a little off subject, since it's not part of the PDA/mobile device, but thought I'd throw it out there. It's been a VERY handy piece of my training/racing.

Just a quick look on Garmin's site, looks like they have software for some mobile devices: http://www8.garmin.com/mobile/mobilext/

The iPhone has a GPS that works with Google Maps. Map My Ride has an app that works with the iPhone's GPS to log a lot of workout data. See the web site: http://www.imapmy.com/
I hope this helps.

In my searching I actually saw this and think it would be a very good program to use. However, I can't rationalize spending the $1650 or so that it would take to cancel my current service, start a new contract (probably some sort of deposit), the $600 or so for an iphone, and buying a $3-400 pda device as I need the productivity of excel, acrobat, and word for business purposes.

I could get a power tap for $1700.

You'd think with windows mobile having over 85% market share of smart devices, someone would make a similar program for the 15%majority that dont use the iphone.

If anyone sees anything like this, please let me know. If any visual studio designers out there want a viable project with real world marketability, let me know. I'd love to beta test.

After a few weeks of research, I think I have found an answer.

Software: for gps tracking on windows mobile / pocket pc:

www.rungps.net

Hardware:
Some friends on the xda-developers have recommended the Spurty BT Heartrate Transmitter.

http://www.blatand.net/brustgurt+M52087573ab0.html
AND
http://www.zephyrtech.co.nz/products

I have ordered the software and will be testing it in the coming months. I'll post a review once I've had a chance to kick the tires a bit.

I've contacted both the hardware manufacturers, as I have not yet found a distributor of the devices. I'm hoping for some correspondence in the upcoming month.

Let me know if anyone finds another possible hardware solution.
