Righto, are they any good or is it just a toss factor. would they assits a middle of the road age grouper?

Yes they do help but by how much is the real question.
I have seen some test that say in a perfectly flat, non windy 40k TT they can save as much as a minute thirty. And as you could imagine in saves more time the farther you go. But some also say that if it is hot they cook your brain and somehow affects your running (look at the two Ironman champions)?!?

I'd say if you have the cash go for it. And it also helps in the mental game, if you think you can go faster then you will go faster.

Get the whole set up: Specialized Transition (2009 is $4,400) with HED3 Trispoke wheels (~$1,500) and aero helmeT ($100-$200) for about $6,000.
