Tendonitis anyone?
Tendons receive very little blood flow, and therefore can take a long time to heal. Ease back into your workout, ice often, and use NSAIDs - even slight tendon irritation can take weeks or months to completely heal. The key is to make sure that there is no pain. You should be back in top form soon.
I agree about taking NSAIDs....I had a really bad case of tendinitis a year ago and I took a prescription drug called Relafen...I know that there's an updated version of it but I took them regularly and the tendinitis went fully away within 5 days. It might be an exception but I'd ask your doctor about a stronger prescription NSAID

I'm assuming you have been to a proper running store and have the right shoes you need (ie stability, motion control, neutral) this was my problem. I had calf problems and thought it could also be tendonitis and went to my local running store and bought new shoes and it still hurt, turns out all i needed was insoles or orthotics and ice it down and just ease your way back into things. If your shoes aren't the correct type you need then when you run and your foot rolls it can twist or tweak that tendon and cause pain. Just an idea.
A few years ago when I was a noob and tried to go Oly to Half in one season I overtrained into a nice case of Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. With Celebrex or Vioxx and taking Glucosamine and Chondroitin on top of it, after about six months off the run and hitting the bike/pool/weights, I was better. Never came back.
Advice would be: 1) Make sure you have correct motion-related shoes (per wrcox); 2) Don't run on cambers. Ever; 3) See a physician with experience treating/diagnosing endurance-related injuries (vs. "I was just walkin' along on my way from the couch to the fridge . . ."); 4) Subscribe to Netflix, buy a Cyclops fluid trainer, and bore yourself to death.
I was recently prescribed an Antibiotic for a sinus infection....fortunately I read the side effects BEFORE I took the damn stuff....apparently it's really bad for the tendons and they recommend NOT working out at all while on it--and the tendon issues can rear their heads MONTHS after. Dodged that bullet, but now I have a $50 bottle of pills and a sinus infection that won't go away.
Greatness is only achieved by those who perpetually raise the expectations of themselves to the point where it ruins their life.
I have severe tendonitis in my shoulder and elbow from college baseball and for some reason it flares up when I go on long runs. Don't ask me why it just happens. I also have a pelvis/hip alignment issue as well from pitching. Anyway, I've had alot of success w/ sports & deep tissue massages. Most of the massage therapists I've used are specifically trained to stretch and massage the joints and muscles and target specific issue. It's definitely not your standard "feel good" massage but it gets the job done. Highly recommend it to anyone have targeted issues.

Dr. said I have a slight case of tendonitis. Said take off 3 weeks which I did. I started running again about two weeks ago staying in lower hr zones. I don't experience any pain but it doesn't feel quite right when I run. Anyone else deal with this and have any advice? It's the tendon that runs just below the bone on the inner ankle. Before this happened I was making nice gains and was actually enjoying running. Thanks!
