Dumb cold weather biking gear question
I have both tights w and w/o padding. It's really not that bad wearing the non-padded tights over bike shorts. You can't tell since usually your upper body is layered too.
Just keep spinning....spinning, spinning....uh, do I know you?

I just use running tights over bike shorts. That way I can get away with only 1 pair of tights (maybe 2 sometimes) and change out the bike shorts underneath and rewear the tights part.
However, my cold and yours might be very different... so far this year I have only needed knee warmers some mornings.
And not a dumb question if it helps you get out on the road :)

I do just about everything. Running pants over shorts. Leg warmers and shorts. Cold weather bib. That way I have enough clothes until the next washShoes covers can keep the more lose running pants out of the gears. Shorts + Accessories = cheapest and most versatile.
Lobster claws are also a must.
I usually wear my tri shorts that are looser over my under armour running tights. I think the
cycling tights are way too expensive for me that is. I just bought a great craft cycling jacket
that i bid on E-Bay! :)
i do non padded cycling tights over a skin suit with thin padding. the skin suit offers a great base layer which i can also wear on my ride home (i just throw on a jersey over my torso) when it warms up slightly and take off the tights over my legs.
I just wear running tights over my tri shorts. Def not unflattering! Especially when you add the uber cool shoe covers! ;) However, the mask thingy I wear to keep my ears and nose warm, now that's another story! hehe
I have always gone with tights w/o a pad over my bike shortsr. For slightly warmer weather I have leg warmers. Also, come winter time not so many people are out riding so less of a need to look good.

So tights?
Do you get tights with a built in chamois? My biker friend and the guy at the bike store were saying to get tights sans chamois and wear them over the regular bike shorts. I guess over so you could peel layers if need be?
Perhaps I'm just being vain and girly, but over bike shorts? That just seems incredibly unflattering.
Edited to add: Also, the tights I saw had more of a pad, not so much a chamois like in the bike shorts. Huh?
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
