IMAZ race started ok then good then....
Bravo!;)
I liked your recap, and with all said, it sounds like you still enjoyed it. Congrats on the finish
8k calories, huh? nice day! enjoy the beer!
congrats!
now the really hard part ,, figuring out next years race schedule,, I know I am doing R&R marathon in San Diego and IMAZ 09 but thats all I've signed up so far,, any suggestions on any 70.3s or full Ims? I want something either fun, pretty( unlike IMAZ) or cheap! and kinda close to So Cal,, i know picky picky picky
"I felt like clothes lining her!" That is hilarious....that you thought that; I would think the same thing. Congrats bro!!!! sounds like you were fully trained and prepared.

still a great job and great job restraining yourself from clotheslining the chick ;)
how's about Vineman 70.3 a great race in the california winecountry?
what I'm up to:
http://www.athletefocus.com/forum/sport/triathlon
You know the Vineman 70.3 is a good idea,, I was kicking around the idea of doing Wildflower, but am not crazy about tent camping before a race,, kinda like a good night sleep before a race ( if possible),, so yeah Vineman would fit in pretty good,, So far I'll be doing RnR Marathon May 31st San Diego International Tri June ? maybe Vineman mid July then IMAZ 09,, sprinkle in a few time trials and and Crits ( maybe,, as dont want to crash out),, also gotta be a cheerleader for wife's races too ,she's doing her first IMCA 70.3..
I'll be cheering at the California 70.3 in April, too :)

This is a recap of my little swim bike run.. ,, kinda long
so I did the IM AZ race,,,, swim was full contact body slamming ,, more or less swam a little further than the course as I swam off course a few times,, swimming looking into a rising sun with 2 000 other people,, did ok as I didnt push too hard.. swam 2.4miles in 1hr 16 minutes,, next time a little less tinted goggle and swim a little straighter
the bike was much better ,, its a 3 loop 36 miles per loop mainly flat with a long slow climb before the turn around,, although you are riding through the freakin desert and had a decent head wind on the way out,, think I averaged 19.8 mph my time was 5 hr 41 ,, I went easy on the last lap as I knew I still had to run ( well move forward ) for 26.2 miles,, was drinking Infinit in my aero bottle, had 2 concentrate bottles on the back and just grabbed water bottles at the aid stations ,, did use my refill of infinite at special needs bike,, there was a few pace lines/ drafting going on .. and some poor biking skills ,, saw a couple crashs , dont know how they happened as it's not a techincal course, dont think any thing too serious
I kinda melted on the run,, never been a fan of running anyway 1st lap my foot was killing me,,( metatrasal sprain,,, foot bone legament) , probably a more than a little dehydrated,, couldnt stand thet taste of another gel,, power bar or whatever crap they had except for chicken broth yummy.. did the run leg in 5;20 or somethun ttl over all 12:41 for the IMAZ ,, my number 1495 if you wanna look it up,,,, oh yeah I got chicked at the end ( girl sprinted by me at the finish line,,) felt like clothes lining her but since there were 500 witnesses and TV cameras I though better of it.. My legs actually feel ok currently as I am on my second beer.. will I do it next year,, already signed up,, my heart rate watch said I burned 8808 calories yesterday
My cheerleading squad was great,, wife had a big sign and also tried to film and shoot photos,, and as the race was multi loops I had several times to see her,, also my coaches and team was there so I got the love from them too ( Breakaway Training) I wasnt the only breakaway guy racing as there are some extremely fast people on the team including the coaches Luke and Felipe,, great support great team,, Big Thanks,, and of course TCSD was representing there too and they also cheered for the breakaway team too,,
as for Tempe, it is a college Palm Springs town, but stilll the freakn desert,, stayed at a real nice time share about 7 miles from the race the Legacy golf course. ( read a bunch of old fat golf geezers) although the place itself is very nice, drove home by way of Sedona then Prescott,, stopped in a little town of Jerome,, a little mining town on the side of a mountain ,weird cool little town
Wore my Qroo wetsuit.. worked well think I had someone try to unzip me in the swim so next time tucking my pull strap into my wetsuit..
Love my Jamis Xenith T1,, ran Zipp 808s front and rear and Victoria Corsa tubbies, think I was the only jamis guy out there ..
ran with a run bottle with infinit for the 1st lap,, then dumped it and filled it with the aid station gatoraide,,( both started to taste like ass during the run)..
goal next year,, 10 minutes off the swim,, 10 -20 minutes off the bike,, run take an hour off the suckie time,, so guess what I am working on this next year
happy racing
