Should I pop it?
Take a picture and post it first. Ive popped and not popped before. I say pop it and cover it up good.
Since your body has not reabsorbed the fluid, I would put a small pin hole in it, drain the fluid, and cover it up with an antibiotic (neosporin or silvadene) and bandaid. Leave the skin on until a new layer proliferates underneath. When it heals a bit, you could use a skin toughener like Peruvian balsam.
Don't force the pop, and if you must, let a doctor do it. Not only does it hurt like a sob it can get infected and its not fun/pretty... spoken from a little experience here ;0)

I'd say to pop that suker. Through bravery or stupidity I always rip off my blisters (though they are rare). It does hurt, and burn and probly gets infected. But slap on a fat layer of topical and let her buck for a day.. then continue.
That's my method anyhow.
Weary is the path that does not challenge.
I was eating lunch as a matter of fact ;-)
Anyway, if you pop it sterilize the needle and disinfect the area.
Wash it afterward.
Put some neosporin om it and a bandaid
'Nothing to it, but to do it!'
a picture would have put a bad end to my lunch, but as it so happens, I am a mom, and we discuss things like vomit and poop while we eat...so blisters, meh, keep eating

A needle would do the trick for you my friend.
1. Wash very well the area with soap and water.
2. With a clean cotton ball desfinfect the arean with alcohol.
3. Make a hole with a needle previously sterilized.
4. Put some neosporing and covered. Change the dressing (band aid or such) every day.
The other more conservative aproach is to buy salt, the ones that we use fro BBQ or grilling, that comes in big grains. Pure a good amount in a bucket with hot water...and soak your foot in there. The changes in smolarity and concentrations between the inside of the blister and the out side, plus the antinflamatory action of the hot water will put an end to that blister of yours.

Thank you everyone. I think I'm going to try dr_rios_ec's salt and hot water bucket, for no other reason other than it has intrigued me. After that ... POP.
Have a great week end everyone.

Hey there.
So I started running for the first time in months last week after foot and knee injury, and started breaking in a new pair of shoes as well. I got a blister on my heel about the size of a quarter. This is the first time ever though that I had a blister that didn't pop before I finished the run.
Since it was after my first run I figured I would let the blister shrink on its own, and I would get back running after it dissappeared, but it has been a week and it has not gone down much at all. Should I pop it and put a band-aid on it, so I can get back on the road? Or should I let it go down? I'm not a big fan of the raw skin under and the dry flaking skin that has to be trimmed off if I do pop it.
Sorry, hopefully nobody was eating lunch while reading this thread.
Cheers.
