Uberman Triathlon
250 Meter Swim, 4 Mile Bike Course, 1 Mile Run. Wow, that's gonna hurt. And from the website: "To nominate someone you know, email some spare @cgiracing.com. Please include race criteria as outlined below.
- 1. On the swim leg of this race you should be able to swim under 3 minutes.
- 2. On this race you should be able to average 30 mph on the bike.
- 4. On this race you should be able to race at sub 5 minutes on the total run.
I don't know about you, but I'm most concerned about requirement #3. What could it be? "Must look good in a speedo." (Don't even bring him up! He's gone!) I say we nominate cogirl3, xc800 runner, jtrimom, beads and anton for the senior division.
I could qualify for the swim and run, but my bike isnt strong enough for that.

Senior? I believe once you are over 40 it is called Masters ;-)
Anyway, lets see how I qualify
1. On the swim leg of this race you should be able to swim under 3 minutes.
-Probably closer to 5 minutes
2. On this race you should be able to average 30 mph on the bike.
-Flat or downhill? Maybe
4. On this race you should be able to race at sub 5 minutes on the total run.
-My best mile(25 years ago) was 5:05, now my best mile might be a 6:15
Now to do these all back to back I would be much slower, although this sounds like it might be fun to do.
Kinda like drag racing for triathlon ;-)
'Nothing to it, but to do it!'
I could do the swim, and that is as far as it goes. :)

OH see now thats a thought :) speaking of, I need to swim--have been swimming lazy lately.
This race ends the discussion: "How to win a triathlon: in the swim, the bike, or the run?"
The answer is........
in T1 and T2
I could do the swim, and that is as far as it goes. :)

brittda wrote:You could "do" the swim, as in "I can swim 250 meters", or you could "do" the swim, as in "I can do the 250m swim at a 1:12 per 100/m pace?" Just curious. I cannot currently nor have I ever been able to maintain any of the discipline's requisite qualifhing speed. Yuck. And btw, has anyone crunched the numbers on this? Assuming the elites race only at the minimum standards, and provide for a generous :30 T1/T2, that is a sub-17 minute total race time. Double yuck.I could do the swim, and that is as far as it goes. :)
Yes I can swim that pace, although slower than hs when I was in the :58 mark. I am more close to a 1:10 now. That being said, I am sucky at cycling and would NEVER in my wildest dreams average 30 mph. Maybe downhill :)
Actually I think it should be: Whippersnapper for you young bloods...superwhippersnapper for folks 40 to 49 years old and 50 and over...superduperwhippersnapper!
Beads said it's like drag racing for triathlon...well for me to even be competitive I'd need on of Big Daddy Don Garlits' rigs...

Come on! I'm sure you can average + 35 mph going downhill, by just coasting.

Why me!? I have never swam a 100 in faster than 1:05, the only way I could bike that fast is if I was holding on to a car, and I ran my fastest mile in HS at 6:05, 10 years ago. Thanks for nod trisooner though :) Makes me feel special :)) Now if it is only so that you can see us race in only a bathingsuit the whole time, well then now I understand...
come on cogirl3..you know how guys are...when they like you they tease you! ;)

Yes, downhill I can hit that--even faster. One of the advantages to a big butt...ahahhahaahahha. My best IM bike was a 6:56 , not so fast as you can see.

I'd be solid on the swim (100m pr of :51) and run (mile pr of 4:12), and could roll 30mph for 4 miles without too much of a problem, assuming I put my bikeback together. But tossing it all back to back may prove to be quite difficult.
I do like the time trial start, though. Well, aside from the fact that I'd be getting passed come the start of the run. Losing a minute in 4 miles on the bike would be pretty humbling.
And if y'all can convince cogirl to post a pic in a suit for the guys, I promise to toss one up for the ladies in kind. Just as soon as I can figure out a way around the 1 mb upload limits I have somehow exceeded for the site.
host it elsewhere and link it

Cool idea for a race. What a hoot! I'd love to do something like that except I'll never run that fast in my life. Swim yes, bike yes, but no way on the run. Still, if the ultra-sprint concept catches on, that would be kind of exciting.

Teaser, just to see if this works. I don't have a true speedo pic available yet...

Are you the last one in T1 or the first one in T2?
...just teasing

Can't y'all tell I'm in a bikini in my profile picture? That should serve as proof enough. xc800runner... lets see a REAL speedo pic!

Notice all the other spots without bikes, and the wetsuits hanging?
Was this a really fast crowd?

once your avatar gets blown up to the size of his left cheek, we might be able to see the proof
Look more closely - if you can see past the sun-burned legs; I'm putting on my left runing shoe. I came into transition in 5th after a 19:50 swim and 1:07 bike (a bit too hilly for my Chicago trained legs). The other bikes are all over to the left of the rack, by the transition entrance/exit. It pays to show up more than 20 min before your wave start.

so NOT pg rated, and apparently, there are a lot of young kids on trifuel, but speedo pics (within reason, I guess depending on "file" size) are always appreciated, and clearly appropriate to any triathlon related discussion :)

I'm totally not fast enough :-) If it wasn't the day after my wedding next summer, I'd be there to watch the spectacle!
