Cycleops Pro Series
I'm guessing by normal trainers you are referring to the mag trainers. The difference is how the resistance is applied to the wheel. The mag trainers use a magnet to set a force on the wheel that you must overcome while pedalling. The fluid is just that, filled with a viscous fluid you must overcome as you pedal.
The fluid are much quieter than the magnetic trainers and also seem to have a smoother ride and increase in required force per output.
I have a mag trainer (b/c I'm cheap) and it is loud and kinda vibrates when I ride at higher cadences, but it gets the job done in the winter. I keep it in the basement so it doesn't bother my wife when I ride since I have to turn up the TV pretty loud as well.

Ha ha, I have the same problem. I can tell how hard I'm working by the tone of the hum from the trainer. I REALLY want a nicer one, but... its in a loooong line of things I'd like to have.
Weary is the path that does not challenge.
I keep the tv on with the volume off, and the headphones turned up!! The people who live below me probobly hate me but I cant hear them bang on my door when I get that thing cranking because of my headphones!
I didn't dig too deep, but it looks like the Pro series have some models with Power ($$$). But the JetFluid Pro looks like it is just an updated fluid trainer with the same technology as the Fluid2. Maybe the JetFluid Pro has some bells and whistles that the Fluid2 doesn't? Can't tell. But to weigh in with 2-cents, Fluid2 (or at least fluid vs mags) is awesome.

Yes it is, and probably all most people need.
Since when is this about *need? Isn't triathlon a synonym for insatiable?

My bad. Go spend the extra $$ on the Pro series. It will really help you a lot. (How's that?)
ha - that's better. Get the one with power! And a disc wheel too.

What is the difference between Cycleops normal trainers and its PROseries?
ie. Fluid2 and JetFluid Pro
