I am looking at a powertap with a campagnolo hub. I have a bike with shimano components. How much of a hassle is it to switch this to work with my bike?

Jenson USA has freehub bodies for $67. You should be able to buy the Shimano freehub and change it out, but I haven't done it before.

My understanding is that this is a trivial matter. To be certain call your LBS and ask around. Entering a new world with the PT ask questions frequently.

cheers

free hub bodies are an easy switch. if you don't want to mess with it just purchase one and have the local shop put it on.

You should be golden with the changeout. Have fun watching your cycling prowess increase as you go to watts based training.
