I did my longest brick to date today- bike 40, run 6. Didn't feel too great on the run- last couple miles had to stop and walk a bit, felt dizzy. My HIM is in 30 days- I will be doing 2 more bricks before then. Now, yesterday I had to fast (no food, no drink for 25 hours- for relig reasons) I had dinner last night and breakfast this morning. Could I have had my "issues" on the run b/c I was not fully rehydrated from yesterday's fast? or did I not hydrate enough on the bike, or did I just bite off more than I can chew with this HIM?!

I'm sure your body is just catching up from the fast / no drinking.

Mr. Groovy gave blood last Thursday and (surprise!) his half marathon last Saturday was not all he'd thought it could be.

I'm sure you are going to rock the HIM! Come back and tell us all how well you did (and where you peed).

Good luck!

I'd put my money on the fast. Not drinking for 25 hours can take a pretty serious toll. If you've got two more bricks, I'm betting that they'll go just fine. I can't wait to hear about your race!

The fast for sure. relax. Things will come back to normal in a few days and you'll be fine.

It was the fast. You'll be fine once you are on a regular nutrition plan. We all have those days when a big training day doesn't go as planned, use it as a learning experience and then attack your next brick. Good luck at the race and like everyone else I'm looking forward to the RR.

update: did my brick today- 45 bike 7 run- soooo much better. It may have been the fast last week, but today was PERFECT brick weather (for Houston) only 60 % humidity, overcast, low 70s. Does someone out there have a way to special order weather conditions for race day? If you do, can you ditto this for Nov. 9th? Thanks :)
