Joining a Masters Swim Group???
I might have posted this all before as I'm joining a masters group this week (first day is Thursday). The masters group here in Bozeman, MT is super easy going. They let you try it out for a week or two before they ask for a check, are willing to work with individuals to get you to a point where you can successfully work out with the group (if needed). So from what I've seen, yes just show up and hit the pool with them. It might be a good idea to call someone on the team or coach. Here's to learning how to swim this winter!
A masters swim is usually composed of people that swim to stay fit, not necessarily to train for events. They usually have a set routine for the day that they follow, and you do it on your own. Realistically, the hardest part about joining a masters swim program is finding one and getting ahold of that ever-elusive person that runs it. With mine, I just find the schedule, show up, pay my dues, and swim my own program. I assume it doesn't vary much from group to group.
Check the Reno listings and contact info on the USMS site, also has class times.

As i have posted I am doing a 70.3 in April it will be my first and i am slightly scared. I just raced this weekend and while i was first out of the water in my AG i did not feel to hot and took 4th overall and it was only a 750m swim. I want to join a masters group while i have found in my area i was wondering how you go about joining them. There is not much info on the web page and i am very new to this. Do i just show up, do i need to contact someone before i go. Anything helps as i hope to do a full next year too and swimming while being my fav thing to train needs more focus and outside help. Cheers
Chris
