about 5 miles into the bike ride at Atomic Man, at the top of a challenging hill, a person asked how i was doing, passed me and let out a big "wheeeeee" as he went down the hill. i really liked this, i feel the same way sometimes on a bike. at this moment i wasn't feeling that great and the enthusiasm was really helpful! who was this mysterious man passing me on the bike? none other than caeagle!! neither of us knew the other was at the race, and he had no way of knowing i was a member of this forum. freaking nuts.

I love it when people are jolly on the course. Too many times people are overly uptight and focused - forgetting that they're out there by their own choosing. I always like to root on the leaders as they return past me. Earlier this year I had one of them tell me to shut up and that I was breaking his concentration. He didn't win, so I guess I was ultimately to blame.

It is all about being healthy, and making it fun!
Being too serious is detrimental to your health

Nothing to it, but to do it

If I am at an event where we start in the water and not on the beach and I have a chance to jump in the water I like do do a cannonball and give a "WOOHOO!"

Nothing to it, but to do it

As a journalist, I've been priviledged to be at the front of many races, mulitisport, running, and cycling alike. The fun isn't relegated just to the middle of the pack. I've cracked up plenty of times when elite and pro athletes display a surprising sense of humor in the heat of competition.

for example... (because i always figured that someone like al-sultan or alexander would be very Tiger Woods like in a race.

I wish there were Trifuelers in West Texas and New Mexico. I feel lonely out here.
