how to start

This is my plan:

I' ve been running long distances for 7 years (marathon 2.54, half 1.17) and this year i'm planning to change my training in order to participate and go thru ironman. My goal race in summer 2006 or 2007.

I'm planning on increrase the amount of biking (now i ride 100km / week, mainly to work & back) and ride few races (100km+) at next summer.

But how should I start swim training? I can now swim 1500 m at slow pace...

Does my plans sound any realistic? Comments & hints!!!??? :)

Sounds like you've got a good fitness base to work with, so that's good. Your goal is a good ways out there so you shouldn't need specific training yet. I think if you keep up the riding and maybe add a couple swim days to your training and slowly build up your volume you should be fine. Going into next year I'd look into specific plans that would lead you into your Race. Until then getting proficient in the three disciplines would be good.

Projects: Trifuel.com, BASE Performance

two words: Master's Swimming

Probably the best investment you can make for the money. Usually around $40 a month gets you a swim coach to help get you where you want to be is a steal.

Thanks !

Tell me more about that masters swimming...? Is it some kind of online coach or real living person?

(Though I think he won't come up to Finland for 40$ a month :-)
