Congrats on getting in to IM Germany. I did it this year and it is far-and-away "better" (in my opinion) than a US version (of which I have done two other). If it comes down to 'which one do you do?", please do Germany! 500,000 people line the course and it is broadcast on national TV all day long. You do not get that Stateside. Plus, with Germany, you can catch the Tour in the same week.

My pics:

I'm in the red swim cap. Granted, the lake leaves something to be desired, but oh well.

A long climb with fans lining the road. It deafening and only about 3 feet wide.

Those cobble stones were bone-jarring. I dare you to go over 10mph.

Running along the River Main in downtown Frankfurt.

The finish area is a 500-year-old town square.
Crap. I want to do Frankfurt. The last picture looks like Disneyland.

Plus the post race bier has to be top notch.

IMs back-to-back seems to be the new fad fashion.
Go for it. what the heck!
Let there be no end to your personal sufferfest, I say.

Thanks everyone! Wow, those pics of IM DE are awesome. I can make my decision next year, training for 2 that close together won't be significantly different than training for one.
Will let everyone know how it goes!

Considering you've never done an IM before, do you really think this is a good idea?
I'm doing my first next year... finishing *one* in one month is intimidating enough... and everything I read suggests it will hammer my body to the point that even resuming training would be a bad idea when you're thinking of lining up at the start of race 2.
I know that guy did 2 in a week, and congrats to him for it, but I don't think that's generally a good idea.

Thanks Jono -
My wife, among many others (most seasoned Ironmen/women), think like you do. Maybe I'm just overzealous b/c I haven't really started the big training days. By next Spring, I could definitely have a change of heart and doing one would be a huge accomplishment. I guess I'm trying to make up for, what was suppose to be, my first IM this year (Switzerland). But a month before I got hit w/ a horrible Liver issue which put me out of work, training, everything for over a month. Now that I'm 100%, I'm pretty excited to get back into training/racing.
Thanks again.

Hi All -
Anyone have experience doing multiple IM's in one year? I, somehow, got a spot in IM DE (Frankfurt) on July 5 and IMLP on July 26. I'm really set on IMLP, but a piece of me wants to do both. Think it's possible?
I'm not fast so Kona isn't a question, thus, I don't mind going slow and finishing to see if I can do both. BTW - never done an IM before, but been doing Halfs/marathons/olympics for about 5 years now.
Thanks!
