I signed up for my 1st Tri!!! I've been training in a swimsuit but I purchased a tri suit for race day. Don't want to deal with putting on shorts and don't want to run in the swimsuit alone. Just wanna go, go, go! Does anyone recommend a tri suit? Is it merely preference? Can I use it for my final month of training? I heard that you should just try it out a few times so it won't get ruined. Just wanted different opinions. Thanks! :-)

Congrads first off at stepping forward and making the attempt!!!!!

My team suit is a Louis Garneau one piece shark skin suit and I love it. Its great in the water, great on the bike, and great at keeping all things male in place. Cost on one however is between 180 and 200 bucks. If this is your only race of the year I can think of other things to purchase at this point then a 200 dollar suit that youll only use when racing, but thats just my $.02. Good luck....

I have a one-piece tri-suit as well and love it. Some people like the tri-top and shorts separate as another option.

But, it certainly is preference...this is the first season I haven't just raced in training clothes, so it's up to how much you want to spend and if you plan on using it for more than 1 race.

It has significantly cut down on my transition times, allowing me to go, go, go as you put it

try some out and see what one fits you best- I like my Louis Garneau trishorts and top but also love my trishorts from titanwear.com. desoto, zoot, craft, volver are also some good brands. when you pick one try it out on a brick or race simulation before race day just to work out the kinks and be race ready. good luck and have fun

It looks like everyone here is mistaken, and you have, in fact, alraedy purchased the tri suit. If this is the case, enjoy it. I have a souple and their convenience for transitioning is fantastic. Just get out of the water and slap on your helmet; you're good to go. Hop off the bike and slap on the running shoes, and again, you're good to go.
If you want to get in a ride in it before race day so you know what to expect, go ahead. Mine don't give a lot (or really any) support for the man bits when on the bike, and I was quite surprised to discover this on my first ride. Not a problem, just a shock you don't want to realize first come race day. You'll probably be good for one swim in the pool, just be sure to rinse the pad thoroughly afterwards so the chlorine doesn't destroy it. Aside from that, you really don't need to train too extensively in your race gear.
