Just wondering were everyone finds races. We have several Tri stores here in the upstate of SC that are awesome, but the problem is the only way to locate races that I can currently tell is to go into the store.

So how do you find out about races.

My LBS has a tri club and posts a list of all events for the year on their website. You could also try www.getsetusa.com. I use that site to find running events, but it also has multisport events as well.

It's mainly a marathon guide (duh) but www.marathonguide.com regularly posts the larger triathlons up to a year in advance.

I also recommend checking with your target state's tourism agency, they usually post the local races as well.

Also check your LBS and LRS but not just the post-it boards but also ask the clerks. I know in my LBS not only do they know about all the upcoming races, there is usually someone on staff who has raced them all. Very useful resource.

+1 to trimapper and trifind...they usually provide more than enough options for me to choose from

The voices in my head tell me which ones to do and where to go to find them. Kidding, usually Trifind.com.

You know, I can never get this site to work for me. I guess it's a neat idea to see the events visually plotted, but the graphics seem to slow the site down quite a bit.

fastdog5 - sorry to hear that and thanks for the input. i sent you have PM asking some questions.

lately the webstats site i have been using on TRImapper has been flaky, slow connection speed to them, which in turn slows down the site. i'll remove them temporarily to see if that helps.

if anyone has input, drop me a line. now that the off-season is almost here for me, i'll have plenty of time to work on the enhancement i have planned.

Mapping is working well for me. I am running a "Linux" laptop with Fedora Core 6 and Fasterfox. No problems rendering.

Also thanks I believe the site will help me this coming year.

Nick: Tried again from home this evening, and it's working better, albeit still a bit slow with all of the graphics. This is pretty neat.

I really like trimapper, and haven't had any big issues with it...it can be a little slow when narrowing things down with the filters, but I'm pretty patient.

I like the visual aspect since a lot of times I'm trying to find good racing opportunities near St. Louis (sister), Louisville (dad), and Cincinatti (me) all at the same time. There's a lot of triangulation involved.
