Florida vs. Louisville
Here's some light reading for your (hopefully) slow Friday. And BTW IMHO, if Louisville is still open, that isn't a good sign. And welcome to trifuel. As Anton will say, fill out your profile so we can better advise you :)

What is the difference between the two.
It's basically the choice between seafood and bourbon.

... or horses vs dolphins.
Go with Loiusville, the bike course was really beautiful, and a lot of people say Ironman Florida isn't a real Ironman. Just kidding! I did Louisville this year and really enjoyed the course and the hills weren't as bad as everyone says.
I'm interested in Louisville too but have some apprehension due to the strong potential for very hot conditions. Call me whimpy. Louisville at the end of August sounds really rough.

Eh, I'm signed up for IMKY. I know its gonna be hot but I think I do alright with handling heat. No use worryin about it now! Just planning on trying to get my long rides/runs in during the middle of the day and figure out my nutrition under IMKY conditions.
I think the DNF rate was around 9%. So i think if you prepare, outside some freak reaction, you'll be alright.
Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.
I did IMKY this year and can't say the heat was really that big of an issue for me. I spent all summer training in conditions relatively similar to those on race day, and was pretty carefull about putting enough fluids, salts, and electrolytes into my body during the race. So if you plan to train hard and race smart, and Louisville otherwise looks like the best fit, you probably shouldn't let the heat be a dealbreaker.
I did IMKY this year, I knew there would be a good chance that it would be hot and humid. I did as much as I could to train hard in those types of conditions. The heat never got to to me that much during the race. I just found out I didn't have a nutritional plan for a long run. I thought the bike course was a lot easier than what I heard and read about. I also live in Maine, and ride a lot in the White Mountains, so what I consider hilly may be different from others.
Pick the one that makes you feel the most excited. IMKY has the heat, which you can train for, and IMF has the flat (hard since less variation) that you can train for. Since you have to sign up for an IM about a year in advance you can train for the expected (course, regular weather for location that time of year, etc).
I've done KY and LOVED it.

Registration is still open for Louisville. Would it be worth it to wait for Florida.
