I know this topic comes up every 2 weeks...but I need some help!
Up to you bro. I had a road bike for 3 years of doing sprints/olympic tris. Then when I was going to do my Half I got a Cervelo P2 SL Dura-Ace to treat myself. (I'm glad I did)
I guess it depends upon what distances you do for tris? I personally think that I wouldn't do any Half/IM without a Tribike, just becuase my shoulders tend to hurt after a while on olympics.
Go to the LBS and test out a few tri-bikes if you think you are in triathlons for the long haul!

You asked about IM race fees a while back so I guess you want to go long.
Being in aerobars for six or seven hours is more comfortable on a TT bike with steeper geometry - other things being equal.
and if going fast is your priority, you need to be in the aero bars.
1) With a road bike geometry of 74 degrees seat tube, your lower back has to bend more (ouch)
and
2) your chest is more constricted than with 78 degrees of seat tube steepness of a TT bike, ergo, easier breathing.

ok so i know this topic is beat to hell like every month or so but i could use some advice here!!!
i got hit last week by an ambulette and it did some decent damage to my bike...not TOTALED but it can use about $150-200 of work. also, ive been looking to upgrade to an entry level tri bike ($1400 range). my question is, should i repair the road bike, and just get a nice pair of race wheels or should i put the RB on the rack in the garage (fix later on) and go ahead with the tri bike purchase????
thanks in advance for the advice!
