The secret to triathlon? It's easy!
Thanks, David. I think it's great that multisport gets so much coverage in your area in part to your column. If only it were that prolific everywhere!
"It's very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit." ~George Sheehan
Yeah, always enjoy your articles. Thanks.
And you're right, just finishing really isn't that hard. I don't think that takes anything away from the people who struggle to finish. They probably started from a very poor fitness level and built up to something better - and that's what makes their accomplishment important. It's about how far you've come, not who's a hard body.
Hey, thanks for reading and your comments. Let's hope we see some new faces out there!
Wish I lived on the left coast sometimes. Our Tri's here in the SouthEast are a lot of sprints and about 200 competitors or so. But then again that is about the size of most 5k's so not too bad.
Great article though, hope you are right about the legs and the tired thing, my first is tomorrow so by this time I will be called a triathlete I hope :-)
good luck cutiger!

Maybe it hasn't seemed that way to you, but this tri race director (and I'd agree) points out that with the different sports and different muscles, it's not as hard as some think. Here's a Q&A with Bill Leach (plus info on two upcoming races):
