Hello from Tecumseh, MI
Ah, I love it when people just stumble upon the site :). Unfortunatley that's how I find almost everything on the web, just surfin' and stumblin'. Maybe I should save up some dough for advertising...
Welcome to the trifuel Charlotte, great to have another endurance athlete on board. Excellent bio, I feel I know you already. Congrats on the improvements over last year's run times. Looks like you've been really focusing on your training. Good luck with the up coming marathon, keep us posted and let us know how it goes.
I agree, it's hard to keep motivated and progressing with one's training without some milestones (races) on the calendar.
Wow that is all really amazing!
It sounds like you already have quite a bit of experience to you. Good luck moving into the tri world im sure you will be just fine since you already have the running down pat. Good luck on your marathon let us all know how you do.
PAIN IS TEMPORARY, PRIDE IS FOREVER!
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't you are right!
Thanks for the replies.
I forgot to mention that one of my primary goals (I always try to keep 2 or 3 long term "primary" goals in mind, along with many other mid-range and short-term goals) is to do an Ironman (probably IM Moo) in 2006 or 2007. I picked that year-long span, since I will be turning 40 in late 2006, so I want to do an ironman within my 40th year. My "secret" goal is to qualify for Kona.
My most current primary goal is to BQ at my marathon in March. I have become somewhat discouraged in this pursuit because I've read that this course is extremely hilly and not good for "first timers or people looking to BQ" But, the story of my life in many ways has always been to prove naysayers wrong. Also I've had to deal with work related injuries since December, which put me behind my training goals (A badly bruised tailbone, and then last month a sprained ankle.) I've made good progress of late, so I'm still a little hopeful. Besides, there's always another marathon, right?
My very short term goal is to do a bike run brick this morning. I can run in ANY weather, but I'll be biking on the trainer. There's just something about going 16-20 mph on a bike when the wind chill is 17 degrees...I just can't stomach that!
Here I go...

Hi there.
Just stumbled upon this site, and thought I'd see what's cookin'.
In my profile I billed myself as an "intermediate beginner" This will be my second season of duathlons, and I have a sprint tri scheduled in August. If I get really comfortable in the water, I'll also try an olympic length tri. Last season I did two sprint dus and one oly du. One of my big dus is coming up this August, it is a "half-iron du" There is an actual half iron tri at the venue, too, but I"m really intruiged by the length of the du. 5m/56m/13.1m. I'm really looking forward to that.
I consider myself primarily a runner, as that is my best of the three. Last season was also my first as a runner, and I completed 14 road races. I've started this season so far by repeating my first two 5k's. The first one, on 2/6, my time was 25:00. (third in AG) My time last year was 31:42.
My second one last weekend in colder weather (and I was fighting off a cold myself) was 25:28 last years time was 31:10. I love to run, and I will be completing my first marathon in 3 weeks!!
I'd always been a recreational cyclist, and I've come to really enjoy the racing aspect. In addition to the dus last season, I did 3 races and one time trial.. This year I hope to add a couple more races and a century.
Racing is the thing that keeps me motivated and setting goals. I look forward to meeting other like-minded people.
