Calf Cramp Last Night in Pool
He was pretty friendly... It was one of those cramps though that you just couldn't move....
Have you been eating your bananas? :) When I was an age group swimmer waaaaay back in the day I used to get serious calf cramps in the pool. We determined that the cramps were due to low potassium, and hence I started eating bananas more regularly.
Even if it isn't that, you might be low on something your body needs, particularly after all of that work you did. A deficiency in magnesium could also be the culprit. Without sufficient magnesium your body may not be absorbing potassium as effectively as it needs to.
Did you replenish with a sports drink or other source of such minerals while you were working out last night? If you're not replenishing some of what you're losing, your muscles may not be able to continue to contract and relax as normal.
Yesterday I was not very smart with nutrition. I did have my banana and take potassium in the am. I think it was from overuse for the hard workout and what I ate during the day (which was not enough).
I opted for no sports drinks yesterday and went with water, but perhaps going forward change that with the longer and harder workout.
Thank you for the advice.
I was so LUCKY to have Chris, a guy in the lane over, stop swimming and come to my aid to rub the cramp out.
Lucky girl! I need to find a "chris" of my own.

So off topic...but let me know if you need any help with fund raising event ideas. My social circle is small so all of my fund raising has been via events, over $10,000 in 2 years....I have a lot of creative ideas.

I think I'm over $15k the last 3 yrs. (Pull up those paycor accounts.) Anyway, I'd LOVE to hear your ideas you could PM me. I'm not sure everyone here will want to hear them.
I was thinking the morning on the drive something with bowling and the other with swimming.
I've done the bowling (my other habit), but was thinking sponser the laps Tina swims in a time period. Our team has some pretty creative ideas. Another big one was the Date Auction, but that seems to be fizzling between teams the last year.
Also, my direct e-mail is tinaparker87@yahoo.com or tparker@securitybankca.com. I have a third, but don't check it. Someday I will get them all to flow to one place. By the way, I like your blog. If there is time to chat via phone we can work that out too!)
Talk to you soon.

Last night I got to the gym and warmed up, did some ab work and upper body prior to Mike's spin class. I like Mike's class, becuase he likes hill work. I proceed to jump in the pool, becuase I felt great. Swam 1600 yards and decided to call it a night. I went to climb out and fell back, because my calf cramp. (Really bad) I couldn't move and kept my head above the water. I was so LUCKY to have Chris, a guy in the lane over, stop swimming and come to my aid to rub the cramp out. He told me his mom would do this for him after cross country when he was a kid. Great guy! Needless to say I hurt going home, but back to normal today. We shall see about run tonight!
Just thought I'd share.
