Holy Crap, I never thought I would actually get a slot. I figured I would test my luck and see if I could get into IMC and it actually work. I can't wait to tackle the IM training plan. I guess this means I need to get a passport now. I'm completely pumped right now, can't wait for the next year of training. Hopefully others had similar luck, see you in Canada!

Now that's Type A. Gotta get the passport NOW one year in advance. jk Congrats on getting in. I'm glad to see Canada going to the online registration process. Don't know the rationale behind it because I thought they were filling up with on-site only. Regardless, good for you for getting in.

Yes, you are right: you will have one memorable year in front of you. Whether you like it or not, IMC has just taken over your life. Come back and read this post with about a month to go before the race. It will crack you up to see you how excited you were. By then you will be thinking, "Please, hurry up and get here and get this over with!" Keep a journal of your training. Not the mileage, but your thoughts and experiences. I have and it is so cool to go back and re-read what you were thinking during the year leading up.

I got in too! The price tag was $550.

It sold out pretty fast. When the registration link to active.com was posted I was refreshing every possible moment. When I finished registering it had already sold out. I wonder how many slots were actually available and how many people were trying to register?

It ended up being $575 after all was said and done (ouch!). I am excited for the upcoming year and all of the ups and downs that are associated with it. My wife already gets frustrated at my 10-12 hrs/week of training for my upcoming 70.3, I'm sure she will love the full fledge IM experience. I guess I had better start taking her out for nice dinners now, best to get a head start on it. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for you IM veterans out there.

Sorry about those that didn't get a slot, I promise to make the best of this opportunity.

Very cool! Wife will love the experience if you include her in it. Not just dinners:) Hubby likes to see the plan and see how he can help.

I got in as well. I did IMC in 2005 and have just been to busy to train. Guess that is changing. Does anyone know how many slots were available. I sat at my desk and kept refreshing as well to try to get in.

I did the same for IMCDA '09. I bet Kylie will come back with an answer. Seh had the same question.

I got lucky to get in as well. I've had a bunch of bad experiences with in-demand races and registering online so I wasn't getting my hopes up. See you in CA. 1 yr from tomorrow! HA!

I read 400 slots sold out in 5 minutes. It sounds like there are a good number of us signed up. It was funny feeling my heart rate rise as I made it past each step on Active.com. I kept thinking, "Oh, it will definitely give me an error message here." Next thing I knew I had a page that said I was registered. I actually logged onto my bank account to make sure that my credit card was actually charged just so I knew it was real. The best part was watching my co-workers try and figure out why I was so damn excited to spend $575 on an entry fee for a race that will absolutely punish me. They kept asking, "so what do you win at this race?" If they only knew. See all of you there.

I think they aim at 2500 entrants.
400 was probably what was left over after this year's competitors signed up, plus the volunteers and the general Entry who lined up on the day at the tent in person.

I'm glad to see so many trifuelers on board, BBB and I were getting lonely until wirebook and cuds showed up.

See britt? what'd I tell you about vacations?

(PS.I hope you are my catcher at the finish line so we can "catch-up.")

eh, my original plan was to go sign up next year any way and to try for AZ next Nov so really no biggie. I was really doing it because if I signed up and paid $575 I was sure to get pregnant next month. Figured It was cheaper than my alternatives..ahahahhahahahahWant to try a different one any hoo. I will be there volunteering in 09 :) My problem was I futzed around trying to find my darn chip # and stupidly could have just updated my info later. I assumed since I was "logged in" to Active I was ok. Clearly I have not done this before ehehehhehehehe.

Okay I have just paid my $550 US at Active.com - bloodsuckers, charge $25 processing fee.
Back in the day I lined up from 5am and handed over a personal cheque for $25 less and they call trhis progress?

Anyway, it's done, so now I can enjoy my next 49 weeks training. heh.

Just think of the fun you will have at miles 20-26 of the marathon! It will make it ALL worth it.

Yeah, I paid $575 US too. It came to $600.59 CDN.
I was bitching about the "processing fee."
I wonder how much computers get paid anyway? They don't? Bastards just made it up then. Grrr.

Lessee,
online sign-ups only...
say 1500 x $25 = $37,500 for "processing" entry forms!!!!
Holy Crap, Batman! as BBB might say.

All done in one week while you sleep. I'm in the wrong business.

I worked it out.
$600 CDN / 140.3
It comes to $4.28 per mile.
So miles 20-26 of the run total $25.66

about the same as two tickets to the movies, plus popcorn & drinks.

Lasts about as long too.

For those extra $25 I can buy one of these and use it on the quads instead of the last 10k!

I think that the people who registered online were hit with a slightly stronger American dollar, thus, the extra $25 dollars. PoC was billed $600.59, but he signed up in person. :( O well.

We didn't actually pay in person though. We actually couldn't even start to pay until the 1st (and have until the 8th). Maybe your cc company just jacked you big time?

I signed up online as 2008 competitors get to do.
You may have ordered extra stuff, like a pasta dinner ticket for the significant other?

or maybe the sledgehammer thigh massage BBB is so fond of?
or the post race polka party & perogy-fest (Barfing guaranteed)?
or the souvenir butt tattoo of Paul Huddle & Roch Frey (one on each cheek)?

Thank you for that :)

I thought about the souvenir butt tattoo of Huddle & Frey, but instead used them as my coaches. Being called a "card" by them is more than a tattoo could ever provide!
