Not being all that close to my family, I'm actually kind of jealous. It sounds like you had a good day.

that is so cool! I wish my family was more into it so we could do that too

Ramblin Rose is a beginner's friendly women's only sprint tri. It might be more accurately termed a super sprint as the distances are 250 m swim, 9 mile bike, 2 mile run. The race folks said it was 60% first timers.
I did this as a relay with my Mom (58) and sister (29). I swam, Mom biked and my little sister ran.
Our goal was to finish and to do it together. I was very proud of us. Mom lives in a flat area of the country and the bike course was really quite hilly. She was a little wigged after we drove the course the day before. But she did great. My sister put in a speedy run and I completed a decent swim.
I'm new to this sport (two individual sprint tris + this relay) but I was just so impressed with the vibe. Very encouraging, very welcoming, etc.
It meant so much to me to be able to do this as a family. I hope to be able to do a 3 generation relay one day with my daughter (4.5) and my Mom.
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
