Thought I'd offer these up to the tri community before sticking them on ebay. I bought them with the very optimistic plan of building them up and racing them before the year's end. For a variety of reasons, that's not going to happen. After a couple of rough weeks on the road, I'm in need of more pressing upgrades than a carbon wheelset.

On the table: Blackwell Research carbon aero wheelset, 50mm front tubular, 100mm rear tubular, shimano compatible, padded double wheelbag, valve extenders, brake pads, no skewers. Basically, what you'll find spec'd in their product listings online - so I don't need to pour on the details. If you're in the market, you already know they're quality wheels.

I opened the boxes, took the bag/wheels out, spun them a few times (damn, they're smooth), admired them for about 15 minutes, put them in the bag, and stowed them in a corner in my living room for the past 3 weeks. Aside from what I've just mentioned, these things are untouched and unused.

Trisports offers this exact same package for $1600 (which is about $260 below retail). Since they have been shipped and handled, I'll let them go for $100 less ($1500, so about $360 below retail) and eat the difference. They'll ship in the original packaging which is in excellent condition. Post any other questions, or PM me if interested to discuss shipping/payment.

Might be a stupid question, but why don't you return them to where you originally bought them and get all your money back?

I bought them on a promotion through my tri club - as a way for BR to help get their products/name into the community. I'm not a marketing guru, but I guess that nothing helps sell tri gear better than people using it (thinking zipp wheels, aero helmets, etc.). I've never known a company (big or small) to take return on promotional goods as that would defeat the purpose of the promotion. If I had a use for them before next June, I'd gladly build them up and hang onto them. As it stands, they'll spend 10 months in a closet while I find more creative ways to upgrade my increasingly deficient ride.
