nation's tri bike check in
We will have bike mechanics on duty race morning who will be able to perform minor bike maintenance at no charge. They will have bike pumps but its better if you bring your own. If you do please share it with those around you. The bike mechanic tent is located next to The Nissan Transition area.
A water station will be located next to The Nissan Transition area with water, hydration fuel and sports gel. We should have enough water to fill your water bottle but to be safe, you may want to fill it before you arrive.
After racking your bike you can proceed directly to the chip distribution and body marking area. Please pick up your race chip and make sure you body is marked. There is NO chip distribution prior to race morning.
"After racking your bike."
Sounds like you walk your bike into transition.

did you get the email that says...
"2.The Nissan Transition Area will be open 1pm-8pm on Saturday, September 13. Everyone MUST check in your bike on Saturday. You will not be allowed to check in on Sunday morning. Admittance to The Nissan Transition Area is by bracelet received at the mandatory race briefings/packet pick up."
i just got it today - talk about a pre-race freak out. thanks for the contact info, could not find that anywhere.
I did not, but passed the info you posted to the team.
There are races and San Diego International is one of them that you leave your bike in transition the day before.
You are not only. My first tri was SD and my husband thought I was crazy to have to do that. My concern was a flat in the am!
Stay strong. You are prepared.
thanks - i doing ok with the strong thing, but had no intention of being in DC on the Saturday before. totally inconvenient.
I know it's a pain but most races I've done in the last year or two have required packet pick up the day before at a minimum, and oftentimes bike racking as well. Morning-of packet pickup is awesome for those of us traveling, but definitely an extra set of hassles for race directors.
The Nation's is a great race, it's definitely worth that extra inconvenience. I'm an even bigger fan based on the race director's magnanimity. For those who don't know, at the last minute the city of Annapolis pulled the bike permits for the Annapolis Triathlon scheduled for 6 Sep. 1500 athletes are registered! That race director is going forward with a run-swim-run or offering a full refund to athletes who want it. The Nation's race director has reached out to Annapolis-registered athletes and is offering to transfer their Annapolis spot to The Nation's. It's a week later, but will give many a chance to still compete. It's the kind of sportsmanship I love about this sport.
"It's very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit." ~George Sheehan
wow - that is pretty magnanimous. considering nation's has been sold out for months. but the more the merrier i say. i hope a bunch of annapolis folks show, i'll need some company at the back of the pack. for whatever reason - dualathlons of whatever sort just never made any sense to me.

Hey,
I just got an email from the folks at the Nation's Tri Sept 14th Washington D.C., and they said that bikes had to be checked in the day before???
First of all, their website has said otherwise for months.
But, this has got to be a mistake - right? Is their master plan to force everyone to get a hotel room in the city?
Has anyone every had any luck getting a hold of errant race organizers to get clarification etc? I can't seem to find a contact number/email anywhere.
Thanks,
