Awesome Job!

So I did this exact course in June as a women's only. This one was coed. There were thunderstorms before the race, so what had previously been placed as a trail run turned into a 3 lap / 2.5 mile run instead (trees down on the trail - women's only had the same 3 lap run). But that at least that was a good comparison for me timewise. I'm thankful the weather stayed clear long enough for the swim, I was really not digging the whole duathalon idea. The only bummer was that they didn't do the timing mats, I guess due to possible thunderstorm concerns? So they sorta did manual splits. I relied on my watch.
300 m pool swim / 10 mile bike / 2.5 mile run
Swim - Went out a bit too fast, but felt good. My daughter was a very enthusiastic cheering section. Every time I got to her end of the pool I heard, "Go Mommy Go! Go Mommy Go!" Several people told my husband that she was the best cheerer there. : )
Swim - 5:41 (previous swim 6:20)
T1 - Muddy, gross squelchy socks and bike shoes.
T1 - 2:49 (previous 2:09)
Bike - Felt good. Got passed by a lot fewer people this time out. And the one evil hill didn't seem quite as bad. Still necessitated some good cursing.
Bike - 47:18 or a bit faster, see T2 (previous 56:14 - go me!)
T2 - I had been in transition for at least a good 30-60 seconds or longer before I was realized I forgot to hit my split button. D'oh! So I think my bike was actually a bit faster.
T2 - :37
Run - Could definitely use some work here. Last time it was in the upper 90s, so I was glad for the overcast weather and comfortable temps.
Run - 24:22
Overall - 1:20:47 (last time 1:32:57)
So I PR'd by 12:10. I had pneumonia about 4-5 weeks ago and lost 2 weeks of training. I think I could have improved even more if I'd stayed healthy. But very pleased with my time.
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
