Oops, I registered for three Triathlons within a three week period...

So I've been so exciting about doing my first Triathlon that I registered for three! The first is Sept 13th, second is Sept 23rd, and third is October 5th. The first two are sprints and the last is an Olympic. I originally signed up for the Olympic but didn't feel confident enough and wanted to get some first hand experience. I'm totally in shape for anyone of these races but I'm afraid I didn't give myself enough recover time... Thoughts, suggestions?

The recovery time for a sprint shouldn't be horrible if you have been training for a olympic. If the Olympic is your focus though you might want to be careful especially in the second race that you don't burn yourself out too much.

+ Kylie and the second one use as a second run thorugh on a race day to get the transitions in your head.

A week is plenty of recovery time for a sprint tri and even an oly.
Make the Oly your 'A' race, and maybe ease up a little on the sprints.

Way to jump right in!! ;-)
Good luck!

Nothing to it, but to do it

HA! I'm jealous! I have a race in 2 weeks and then I'm done for the season minus one marathon in october. Man I wish I lived in a warmer climate! 3 in 3 weeks. Way to go.

Weary is the path that does not challenge.

I usually just take a day or two off after a Sprint. Then, right back to training. But definitely take it easy and try to fine tune your transitions on the first 2.

Wow, thanks for the vote of confidence. I was sure I was gonna get everybody telling me to opt out of the first two! I am way too stubborn to do that!. I'll use that second try to fine tune my transitions and techniques like you guys suggested. Thanks again for the tips and keep em coming!

I had a race on the 1st and 3rd weekend of June, and the 2nd week of June I volunteered because it seemed like 3 consecutive would be too much. In hindsight, I could of done all 3. :) Have fun.

I just did my first sprint a few weeks back (the swim was replaced with another run due to lightning too - disappointing but I digress). It really only took me 2 days to recover and I was back out there at it getting ready for the next.

The key is you have determination.

you'll be fine...

heck, i met some one last weekend at Steelhead that did the 1/2 and then drove home 3 hours to do an olympic race the next day. i'm not so brave, i gave myself a week between both events...

fear is negative, adrenaline is postive, go for it!

yeah, you'll be more than fine. Take it easy in the weeks in between races. Limit the workouts to short, fast, form based workouts. Lots of drills, strides, and bursts. I'd give myself a day off after each race, then do an easy ride the 2nd day, and get in the pool, too, also nice and easy. Then get your legs turning over. You will likely get faster through your three weeks.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

You'll do great, just don't push it on the second one. I have a sprint and then two weeks later a half-IM and I'm looking at the sprint as a brick so I get a good workout and a free t-shirt at the same time.

Like Triguy98 said, I would also take at least a day off after both races, just to give yourself some recovery time. Have fun though.
