bodyglide review
"nipular region" that's a new one for me, now I have another phrase to describe sensitive body parts, thanks for the review, I just bought some of the sun screen body glide but haven't tried it yet.
one thing i dislike about body glide is if i take it to use before a hot race, it ends up sitting and melting in transition. even after cooling, it never reverts back to its original state. a whole stick gets wasted for one race. anyone else have this happen?

I like bodyglide but i find its weakness is its durability and time to empty -- those small ones can be used up in haste on a hot day and a salt water swim.
When I did IM Australia last year i saw piles of guys using zinc based sun cream instead of bodyglide. Anyone tried or seen that?
haven't noticed that and i've left my BG in the car a couple times this summer.
haven't seen the zinc stuff - anyone know if it's available in the states?
Sport Shield is another one to try. I liked it better then bodyglide.
is "nipular region" a scientific term?

yes I got it from "friends" :)
I've left the Body Glide in the trunk of my car on a 100º day, and not had problems. It does go fairly quickly, but I don't mind spending the money to not have chafing. I think it works better than the other options...
One thing I want to know is.... why the sunscreen? Let's just say that most of the places I'm putting Body Glide don't see much sun....
Does anyone have any other "nipular region" suggestions? BodyGlide does the trick to a point, but if I'm really soaked in sweat (or rain) and the rubbing starts, I've had failures... very not-pretty failures...

duct tape.
actually some less hairy folks have used band aids (someone has created a small band aid called nip-guards or something like that)
I am a big fan of NipGuard for the 'nipular' region http://www.nipguards.com/
I have tried duct tape and it works but it sucks to take off after a long event.
It puls off skin and almost my mipple with it.
Bodyglide everywhere else.
Nothing to it, but to do it
this reminds me of the london marathon commercial

I tried diaper rash cream for some chaff prone areas,( dont ask) works as well as body glide and a whole lot cheaper, is similar to the post about the Aussie using Zinc oxide as thats the main ingredient,, only problem I had was the scent fresh baby scent just doesnt agree with me for long
You can use duct tape with a band-aid below it to protect the nipular tissue. I also shave the entire nipular region to avoid yanks.

Avoid 'Yanks'? (hee,hee,hee!)
If you don't I heard you have to start shaving your palm area ;-)

Hubby uses bandaids--work just as well and cheaper than nipguards.
Bodyglide for me, but my big problem lately has been my darn jog bra. And not just one...seems like every one of them. On long run days when I sweat a lot I keep getting chafed badly. Today I look like I tried to slash my cleavage (so not a very attractive sight) in a suicide attempt. Hello what the heck?
they may be getting too loose- your bras, I mean- the stretchy material eventually loosens, so good excuse to go shopping :)

I tried this once before a long run when I couldn't find any other lubricant. results were not positive for me

once again duct tape. bind the girls down ;)

Umm... thanks... except that would look a little funky in the pool... ;)

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
+1 on 2Toms Sportshield. Works way better than Bodyglide for cycling and stays on in the water. Apply it once and you're set for hours. Only problem, it doesn't last very long, meaning you blow through the roll on in no time (you can order 6 or 12 at a time from their website, however).
Also fantastic for putting on your wetsuit. Just a little at the wrists, elbows, neck and knees.

I got a chance to try out two samples of Bodyglide the Anti-chaffing and Sun Screen Stick (SPF 25). I was prompted to try these out after a nice five mile run I developed a grotesque blister on the side of my big toe. I tried out the Anti-chaffing first applying it to my toes, inner thighs and nipular region. After a nice 7 mile I am happy to report I developed no blisters and had no chaffing issues on my thighs or chest. I got similar results with the Sun Screen Stick.
I found both Bodyglide products to be equal or better than petroleum jelly as a lubricant for running and cycling. They do offer some advantages over petroleum jelly. First, they are less messy – applying petroleum jelly w/ your fingers always leaves some on your hands that always ends up on your steering wheel, coffee mug, and/or your eyes. Also if you leave Bodyglide in the car on a cold winter night it will not freeze like petroleum jelly will.
One problem I had w/ the antichaffing bodyglide is that it would “crumble” a little bit when I applied it. It wasn’t a lot and maybe just at the start of the canister but I had to pick up the offending crumbs before I mashed them into the carpet. But I didn’t have this problem w/ the Sun Screen and preferred the Sun Screen Body Glide for this reason.
I did not have an opportunity to try either version on my wetsuit swims but will give an update in the fall.
I tried to test out sunscreen by putting some Sun Screen on my arm before a mid day run but notice no difference when I got back. I’ll try again when I go down the shore for the weekend w/ the family in a couple weeks.
